is anyone else doing low carb instead of calorie counting? i just started on this site this morning and it seems like it is more about counting calories than carbs..
anyway
i am on a low carb diet
i can have 35 carbs a day- and usually hit that, or shoot just a little bit low on it
i do cardio everyday via stationary bike
mondays, wednesdays, and fridays i do all over workouts
abs, cardio,arms, legs, and butt

started back in december
i've been at a stand still for a while and feel like giving up! i dont get on the scale much (scared of the number, and with weight training i am scared if i see an increase i will panic)

any who...
need some support! i am freaking out!

Can you sustain 35carbs a day from here on out? (35 is kinda low)
I saw great results with keeping my carbs under 100/day consistently. Just make sure you are getting enough protein/good fats/calcium. And don't forget to track your sugar-and try to keep that under 35 :) goodluck!

I am doing carb control and calorie restriction. I have PCOS therefore I have to control my carbs in order to lose weight. I try to stay around 1200 calories per day with 20-35 net carbs per day. I have been doing well. I started on 4/30/12 and have lost over 58lbs ...so far....i have a long way to go. I had an issue where I had stalled about a month back and i actually increased my daily carb intake from 20 net carbs to 25-30 net carbs per day and that seemed to help with the weight loss and also with my cravings a little. I just miss fruit so much!
  • upping your carbs helped?
that scares me! i have trouble hitting 35! lol
  • and i hit my plateau about 3 months ago- now it seems like i am just floating same size

Upping my carbs a little helped and I'm pretty strict about my calorie intake too. Also if you are doing the same workouts regularly try switching them up.
  • Take my experience from this; if you are planning to have a lifestyle like this for the remainder of your life then go right ahead. But if this is just a month plan just stop. Most of the weight from this kind of diet is mainly your glycogen stores being depleted (every G of glycogen holds onto ~2.5g water) I tried this for a month lost about 5 pounds but soon stopped as my workouts I couldn't find to complete, but everyday life was manageable. But this is all just my 2 cents. I'd only really advise this for people who are massively overweight, but in my opinion you seem to be currently at a decent weight. Try to ease into a normal dietary pattern you can maintain for a lifetime if you don't plan on following this forever. But if you do plan on being a low carber for your entire life, by all means continue what your doing.
