I am a graduate student, so when I get together for meetings, fatty and salty foods are usually there. I managed to dodge everything this week. I am proud of myself!
Monday Seminar: Doghnuts and coffee
Tuesday Semnar: Cookies and coffee
Wednesday Lab Meeting: Pizza and Coke
Friday Lab Meeting: Pizza, cookies, and Coke

(Yes, I also wonder when I am supposed to get stuff done. So many meetings.)

Does anyone have any tips, other than willpower, on avoiding this stuff?

  • Bring your own goodies! On somedays, have what everyone is having, in moderation. Good Luck!

Boy, do I know what you mean. I travel a lot and I attend many conferences and seminars so it's really hard to eat healthy. I stay away from the cookies and cokes but I do eat the pizza (toppings only) and count it against my calorie intake. On the weeks I travel I'm finding it hard to just maintain the weight and not gain any new fat.

Other than bringing your own snacks, like Jillian suggests, I really don't have a solution so it's will power and moderation and a lot of empathy from here.
  • I would eat them but just like half a donut or one slice of pizza and be very careful the rest of the day!!!
