Starting something I should have started long ago!

Hello all!
After someone on my G+ mentioned this site, I figured I would give it a whirl. My bf has been newly diagnosed with diabetes, so I'm hoping I can provide a good example by logging my -own- stuff, then wheedle and nag and whine for him to do it himself. ha! So far, so good - if it wasn't for the barcode scanner on the phone app and the iPad app, I might have just ignored it like I've (sadly) ignored all the other sites like this out there.
As folks can tell from my username, I'm not looking to lose all that much, but I'd like to be back down to my former size 14. (Happy being voluptuous, less happy with huffing and wheezing up one flight of stairs, sigh!) I only recently (well, last 5 years) learned to drive, and was getting plenty of exercise on my bike everywhere in the city, but since dating and then moving in with my schmoo (who lives nowhere within walking distance of a grocery store), I've rather packed it on!! I'm also an inconvenient drive from my weekly source of 4-hour aerobic sessions, i.e. the local discotheque.
Thanks to some unrelated neck trouble, my continuing physical therapy has given me a renewed zest for activity, but it's hard going. Especially because I reeeeaaaalllly hate summer, so I have zero inclination to leave the blessed A/C, and the treadmill out in the hot hot garage won't fit anywhere in our part of the house. Grr! I've also recently inched my way out of some severe depression (death, disease, more death, grossly deficient vit-D, etc.), which did NOT help the comfort eating, lemme tell ya. And lordy, do I love food. I love cooking it, I love eating it, and thanks to my new foodsaver, I love making 10lbs of it at a go and storing it away for a month of lunches.
I'm following the Michael Pollan "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly vegetables" school of weight loss (inasmuch as it's not.. umm.. a school..), and I hope to see some change. The bf is trying to drag me geocaching with him and his friends............. which I'll probably do when the weather gets below 75.
I've only been logging for a short while, but I've already noticed trends that I hope to change. For the moment, it's remembering to bring my own lunch, because Jimmy John's will suck away half my daily caloric load if I'm not careful. Yikes!!
So anyway, hello!
