I am about to go on my first vacation since my healthy lifestyle change.

I've been doing very well to stay around my calorie goals and to work out 6 days a week.

I love vacationing, and I love eating good food at new places when I'm on vacation.

I'm so worried that while I'm on a 10 day trip to Georgia, I'm going to lose all of my progress. What tips can you share to help me keep calories in line and make sure that I get my work outs in??

thanks!!

  • Definitely KEEP LOGGING! Even if you go over every day, if you are logging it will at least make you think about what you're eating.
  • Try and hit the gym everyday, it will battle some of those vacation pounds you are almost certain to put on. But most if all, relax and have fun, you've earned it.

You will be surprised at how 'good' you can be. Enjoy the holiday no matter what, thats part of the joy. Whatever weight you put on, you know you can take off. I agree about logging tho, if you can keep up with it you can keep a little check on things. have a brilliant time.

I'm definitely going to keep logging everything. I love the app!

A gym is definitely out of the question ... I'm thinking more of hotel room/grandma's house work outs.

My friend and I do Insanity together, and the disks are his, so unfortunately, I won't be able to bring them with me to GA
  • Set your goals to maintain your weight rather than lose during your vacation. 10 days isn't going to set you back that far when we're talking a long-term lifestyle change, and you want to be able to enjoy yourself on your vacation! Try to schedule some exercise-centric vacation activities, like hiking or biking or swimming or taking walks and use those as your workouts instead of a gym if you can't make it to one. If you do have the time to yourself, many hotels have workout facilities, so that may be an option. When I went on vacation recently I found a Curves gym that had a free 7 day trial membership, so I just signed up for that and went a couple times.

Don't totally forbid yourself from doing the things you want if you like trying new foods, just keep it within reason. If you know you're going out to eat that evening, try to be active during the day and eat a healthy breakfast/lunch. If the people you're with are going to be going to restaurants nonstop, do what you can to eat smaller portions or make healthier choices. I usually look up the menu online before I go out to a restaurant and decide ahead of time what to order. Hopefully the restaurant has nutrition information available, but even if you have to estimate it, you're likely to make better choices if you plan ahead what you're going to eat.
