1139

okay, so i'm visiting my sister this week and it's been hard but i've really been happy with the choices i've made. i've had some of the things i've wanted - in small amounts - and denied a few others. it's been good. until tonight. i knew we were going swimming at my cousins and ordering pizza so i carefully planned out the day beforehand so i could do this and still be within my calories. i think i allocated 2 or 3 pieces of pizza (thin crust).
but then there were cookies. and cupcakes.
and now i'm 1139 over my daily calorie limit. and that's not the worst thing. the worst thing is that my cheat meal is tomorrow. at a mexican restaurant. i will still be doing this even though i went over today. this mexican restaurant is only in texas and it's something i've been looking forward to for a few weeks. and i was especially good in the week leading up to this.
so my question is how to handle these 1139 calories and the rest of the week. i will probably have 800-1000 (maybe more) workout calories that i would normally mostly eat back. should i not eat these back to compensate? there are still 4 days left in this week. should i maybe leave a few hundred calories left at the end of each day?
i just joined MFP two and a half weeks ago and have lost 3 lbs. i really don't want to undo any of that and lose my momentum. i am trying really hard to not view this as a 'diet' and to remind myself that this is a healthier way of living (i.e. it's okay to mess up every now and again, just start over the next day).
i just would like to know the best way how to handle this.
fyi - my daily calorie goal is 1500 (doesn't include exercise cals). i eat back most of my exercise calories typically. i strength train 3x a week. and i'm 5'4 and 201 lbs.
thanks!
btw - when i refer to my 'cheat meal', i mean a meal in which for the most part i will eat what i want and not worry about calories. my goal is to have no more than one cheat meal a week, but only if i feel i need it. otherwise i won't have it.

Today, is done. Plan like u would have for Mexican tomorrow. Eat clean all day. Sometimes I have found that when I've had a day or two like you as long as I continue as normal I am quickly back I track..I may not lose the nxt week but I stay on the course and have been rewarded with a bigger than normal loss the nxt week. Chalk it up as a lesson on how can I manage it even better the next time? No long term damage done provided you reign it in.0

so you think it's better to eat back my exercise calories as i normally would? i know some people intentionally don't eat them back, saving them up for a cheat meal.
i hadn't totally planned how i was going to handle tomorrow. i normally eat 5 times a day. i thought maybe about not eating some of those meals to compensate. i won't be hungry for the most part. up until two weeks ago i pretty much only ate once a day (which i know is awful).0 -
you should keep as normal and just exercise a little more. Don't eat the extra excercise cals back.
You should try and keep as normal as possible to keep your body functioning as it's used too. Too many ups and downs can cause problems and defeat the purpose of what you did to make it all better.
Crap happens man. Eat more, move more.0 -
I would save for occasions too. Works for me. If I have a day like u just did I might exercise 10 min more than usual for few days n not eat that or not eat all normal exercise. Sometimes it's amazing what we can get away with because exercise is not just burning initial calories but is also continuing after we've stopped (weight training especially). Bonus! If you are hungry tho for the next week ...eat exercise! And behave yourself lol!0
