Stolen Weights

I had to remove some 4 kg dumb bells from the weights room of my gym to do my interval training last night as the set normally located by the mat area had gone missing. This morning, my PT could not find any 5 kg plates for the squat rack, it appears that there is only one pair available, and they were in use.

In transpires that some equipment from the gym has gone walkabout, most likely stolen. The gym are aware of the problem, and the missing dumb bells are definately no longer in the gym.

PT stated that people regularly steal equipment, its obvious why they do it, but how do you sneak weights out of the gym? Apparently some 15 kg plates have also gone astray, and it cannot be possible just to sneak one of those out in your rucksack surely?

Anyone else aware of this problem in their gym? see anyone in the process of stealing the equipment? done it themselves? (I promise not to grass).

Our gym has lost 20 DOZEN towels in the last eight weeks alone. They've always had these blue hand towels for us to use to wipe down the equipment. Now they are switching to bright orange so it will be harder for people to walk out with them. Really people? Hand towels? *forehead smack* And dumbbells? I guess you are what you steal...

I had forgotten about the towels! My gym used to allow you to help yourself to towels, due to pilfering, you now get given 1 towel when you swipe your membership card.

Nicking the sweat towels = skanky
