Correct Calorie amount

Hi all ~
I am just curious on MFP how do we determin the correct amount of Calories that we need to consume daily? I have mine set at 1200, but my Dr. advised me that was to low. I am unsure of how to change or even how to figure the correct amount I need.

It would help to know things like how tall you are, your daily activity level, and how much you weigh. If you do not have much to lose they say change your setting to 1 lb a week loss, or maybe even 1 1/2 pound loss per week. I know I couldnt survive on 1200 calories!!0

It would be helpful to have your stats - (height, weight, activity level) in order to help answer your query!
