OK. I have been using MFP for 5 weeks now, and have lost 9 pounds and 2 inches (yay). I have been working out about 5 times a week. But last week, I think I was PMSing, and I only worked out once that week.. I just lost all my energy and my motivation. (I still stayed under my calorie limit). Then this week, low and behold, I started my stupid period. And I haven't worked out since. All I have wanted to do these past 2 weeks is Sit Here. Do nothing. I have no energy, I feel like a zombie.
I thought that when you started working out, and eating right, you'd have more energy. It was working at first, but now it just went away. Any advice??

For me, I was a lot like you are right now. Coming from a person whose only exercising was going back and forth to the fridge, it was terrible in the beginning. When I first joined the gym and had my first few workouts I came home feeling terrible! I was sore, tired as hell, and felt generally bad all over. But slowly I noticed I DID start feeling like I had more energy, did start feeling better. And honestly this made me more motivated with watching what I ate as well. It takes time, and we all get discouraged. But the rewards when we stick to it make it all worthwhile. I have more energy, I don't get winded just from walking from the parking lot to my desk in the mornings.
Stick with it and give yourself a chance. For me one of the most important things the first month was no matter how bad I didn't want to go to the gym, I went. I forced myself to go, to workout. It has really paid off for me. I'm not even talking about my weight loss, but my energy, and honestly my self esteem and pride in myself has improved a great deal.
Just stick with it, you can do it!0 -
It's so easy to get out of the habit - why does it take so long to get INTO the habit?!
I find that just getting to the gym and changing into my workout is the toughest part. If I can make myself do just that, then I'm usually ok. I have long covnersations with myself about why it's good for me, I'll feel so much better after I work out, how it will keep the weight loss momentum going - whatever mantra works for that day.
Just get there and into your workout clothes. After that it gets easier.0 -
I feel the exact same way about one week every month!! Just totally wiped out tired!
To top things off, I made myself get up and exercise toward the end of my period, but then went away for the weekend with my family and had a weekend of relaxing and rich foods. ugh!
Now I need to kick myself in the butt and get back on my exercise routine before that time rolls around again!
I'm hoping that with a more strict routine I will be able to power through those low energy times and keep on trucking!
Good luck!0 -
Thanks for all this advice ladies. I just hate when I get in these moods.. Didn't think it would last almost 2 weeks. I just don't enjoy working out... And when it's that time of the month, it's even worse. I wish I was one of those women who enjoy working out, but I'm just not. After this week, I am going to start back on my workouts, slowly. I am still staying under my calorie limit, and despite the bloating from my period, I weighed myself Monday morning and had lost 2 more pounds. I guess it just takes longer than I thought to get into a good workout routine!0
