FYI: Weight loss will never truly work for a woman if she is doing it for the wrong reasons, which is any reason besides her own personal ones.

What a very random thread. If you don't like it the thread, maybe don't read it? Not really worth a full on rant? Either that or start a blog and rant away to your hearts content in there. I do that from time to time. Saves me boring everyone on the boards to death that way....

I was just reading a post on which a guy basically wanted to know how to bring up weight with a woman in the most sensitive manner. Every time I read one of these posts, the entire post is wasted by these women who take it personally like he tried to ask them and freak out 'OMG HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!! YOU BETTER NOT BRING THAT UP WITH HER &%$$#@$&^%&%@$' and I have no idea why this happens. First of all, not every woman sits there and cries when you tell her things about weight, whether it's taking it off or putting it on (in this case, it was just how she had lost her weight). Secondly, some things are difficult to talk about, whether or not you would bring them up yourself. Everyone here is supposedly an adult. If you find their "gall" at bringing up a socially taboo topic completely and disgustingly abhorrent, and you can't give someone real advice on a real problem, gtfo.

My sister had taken some sign language in school and worked with students that were deaf. Being used to our super-sensitive "no no, don't say mean things that hurt me" society, it was surprising to hear that if two deaf people that hadn't seen each other in some time met up and one signed out "wow, you got really fat" to the other, it is NOT seen as an insult. It is simply an observation that they are stating. Take a breath, people.

People didn't tell him not to mention it because "it's bad to say observations that may be taken as an insult." Instead it's a question of "really, is it your place?" His whole idea about wanting to bring up the subject, was to then tell her how to fix it. Seriously? You are making a comparison that doesn't mesh. A better analogy would be:
"Hi!" You're fat!"
"oh, it's true. Thanks for bringing it up cuz I didn't know!"
"No problem! Since we can talk about it, I thought I'd let you know that if you ate less and moved your *kitten*, you wouldn't be!"

^The above dialog is idiotic. That's what he wants. Obviously people are going to tell him to keep his mouth closed.

Interesting...someone says, "I want women's advice on approaching a friend about her saggy *kitten* skin," and women responded advising him not to ask her about her saggy *kitten* skin. And somehow this bothers you.

If you're sick of people getting the responses they asked for on this site, maybe you should find a different site. One where you ask a question and everyone responds with "purple unicorn snows the cape," "my car can go 12 mph" and other irrelevant nonsense.
