Gaining and Losing Weight: An Outsiders Perception

So far I've lost 13lbs not including the 3lbs I had lost before joining MFP. Now close friends and close family members have mentioned that they see a difference which I'm not too sure I'm seeing myself. However for the past 2 and a half months I've been at it and working hard to lose those 13lbs.
What really gets me down sometimes though is when you see people that you havent seen in a while and they comment on how fat your getting... although you are at least 10lbs lighter than the last time they saw you.
Sometimes it makes me feel as though I'm not trying hard enough.
How do you respond to those persons(if it happened to you)? Do you make them aware of your weight loss journey or just leave them to think whatever. I know that sometimes when I tell them they tell me straight up that they don't believe that...

Remember that this is about healthy living, not about impressing those that obviously don't care about your feelings. I have coworkers that act the same way, and I just use their reaction as fuel to kick *kitten* in my workouts. That way, when I do reach my goal, they will be proven wrong and can Have a huge slice of humble pie. Do this for you!0

If someone I hadn't seen in a while saw me and said, "my, you're getting portly!" I'd throat punch them. These people are not your friends.0

Anyone who tells you how fat you are getting does not deserve your time or your explanations. I would find a flaw of theirs to pick on - how about how rude, unpleasant and outspoken they're getting?!0

Unless the person is a medical professional making a medical assessment of your health, that person is way out of line to comment on your weight. WTH is wrong with people?0

if someone tells u that u are getting fat, they deserve a kick in the teeth. that is rude and you should let them know that they are being a jerk0

If someone hadn't seen me in a while and they comment on how fat I was getting they wouldn't be seeing me again EVER... and I would probably call them a rude name and I may even kick them in the junk...0
