i've only just started hitting the gym and working out within the last year, so i have yet to take a break. but my plans for this year are to pretty much take it easy starting Thanksgiving, until New Years Day.

I took a week off once in the past year and a half.

    It was pure torture.

However, I know that it's necessary to do once in a while... On a weekly basis I'm lucky if I can make myself take two rest days.... Usually one is pushing it.

A week at a time. Have done 4 weeks in the last year. I also basically just finisned a 3 week deload due to finishing a big cut. Was lifting at max the whole time. Dropped back 3 weeks worth of progression and started eating more with the intent of pushing past previous working weights next week.

A week. I take a week off when I feel I really need it, maybe a couple of times a year.

My last one was Xmas - I planned it for that week since I knew the gym would be shut for a few days anyway.

a week is a good time. But i've taken two weeks if i'm especially overtrained, burned out, or nursing an injury
