I've used MFP for a little over 2 years now; initially I lost about 12lbs, but since then have gained back and not done much better than 5. I'm 5'2" and have always teetered around 145lbs, but recently have gained another 5 making this the most I've ever weighed in my life. I'm finally sick of myself for lacking motivation and drive! I've been thinking this for sometime, but the addition to a Nestle Drumstick to my healthy lunch this afternoon made me realize how flimsy my focus has been.

I've struggled with the THOUSANDS of different entries for every type of food out there, so I've resorted to just adding my own entries based on the labeling of the foods I buy.....I have the most trouble adding the nutrition info for natural foods like grapes and cucumbers etc since they generally don't come with a nutrition label. I also have issues when comparing information I get from different places, on how many calories I should be eating and what kind of calories I should be eating etc. For example; MFP says I should net 1220/day if my goal is to lose 0.5lbs/wk, while choosemyplate.org suggests I eat 1690 cal to reach my goal?? Another example I have would be the fact that some people say theres no such thing as too much sugar as long as its natural sugars found in fruits and vegetables. And is there such thing as eating TOO much protein? How do I avoid that???

Anyhow, I'd originally tried to get some of my friends to use MFP with me but that didn't work out too well. I'm generally pretty honest and upfront with everyone, but trying to push them to use this/workout/eat better makes me feel like I'm insulting them or being too pushy....perhaps its because I'm close with them. I still try to encourage, at least, through my own efforts, but I feel that maybe the lack of effort (or caring, in the cases of the people I know who "don't NEED" to be concerned with their nutrition) is what ultimately sets me back.

Maybe I can get some help from people on here who may be going through or have gone through the same issues in the past??

Thanks and good luck to all!!

Cynthia

This site has helped me a lot with my weight loss and getting healthier goal.

I lived out in the Phoenix area in the late 90's. Really miss it there.

While at Luke AFB I was in the best shape of my life, around 198lbs. 13 years later I topped the scale at 344lbs! Last December I said enough is enough!

I really think this site and my friends on this site has helped me.

Feel free to add me if you wish.
