Confused about the scales

Maybe someone can enlighten me. Last week I cycled my heart out and lost about a pound in a week, which is what i expected. Then I went to festival and the diet slipped away, consuming a lot of wine and few to many hog roasts. I weighed myself after the weekend and put on 4lbs IN 3 DAYS!! Now after another three days without any exercise I have the lost the 4lbs plus an extra 2.... I'm confused, was it just water retention??

    Water retention will do such things to you....

    the likliehood is that it is water retention. just get back on it and you'll lose it again in no time!

    I would wager to say you consumed a lot of salt.
