Just want someone to listen. Needing some motivation!

I have been on this site for about 4 months now. I've lost 41 pounds so far. Lately, I have been having a really hard time. Not really with my dieting. I am head on with that stuff. However, on my days off of work I slip up. I used to work out every day but now I am on thirds and just sleep all day. Not to mention my work is pretty physical. I am a shelf stocker at Walmart. I am constantly walking fast ALL over the store. I lift heavy boxes all night. I walk fast from one end of the aisle to the other in order to get things put away. I am always bending and stretching to pick up the boxes. At lunch I eat lunchables. Sometimes, I have veggie dogs. I have gained 2 and a half pounds in 8 days. NONE of my friends on this site even talk to me anymore. I don't work out anymore because in my mind I feel like I do SO much at work everyday that it IS a workout. According to this site I burn 2,000 everyday. But then on my days off I just lay around, don't work out, and eat. I feel like I lost all my friends on this site. I gained a few pounds which freaks me the heck out! I am tired and scared and my husband needs a hip replacement and he is only 21. We still live with our in laws. So, I am just stressed beyond comprehension. Please, I just need someone ANYONE to talk me through this. Thanks for listening if anyone actually did.

Listening. It's hard to work weird shifts and maintain work life balance. I would suggest you try some yoga - it really helps you become more aware of your body and works out the muscles you don't use.
Do you wear a fitbit or hrm or nike fuel band to see how many calories you really burn at work? You may be over or under estimating how much you really burn.
Other than that, I have some threads for those who work at night…and how they use their time off.0 -
Please don't be disheartened. You've done really well, and I hope I can do as well over the next few months.
You sound like you have an energetic job, and are constantly on the go, so I'm guessing your problem is only on your days off. I would suggest maybe making plans to go out and do something on your days off so you have something to look forward to.
There are people on here who will give you good advise and support, and I'm sure you haven't lost all your friends on here.

First of all, 41 pounds is amazing in four months. Congratulations!
Everyone slips up, everyone. And you know what? It's really okay, we can't be on this journey with full force, all the time. I know I've slipped up sometimes but I've jumped on board again. With your job, it seems like you're getting a constant workout, so if you don't get time to workout one day, that's okay. You don't have to work out every single day; it seems like you've got a lot on your plate at the minute so the last thing you need to worry about is not working out.
If you have a bad day eating, wipe it off. It's in the past and you can't do anything about it. You need to move on from your bad day and start fresh. Whether that be you had a bad day altogether, or you had a bad morning, have a great afternoon and evening instead.
I'm sorry you lost your friends on here, feel free to add me, I always log and if you ever need anyone to talk to, I always have a listening ear. Set yourself mini goals; if you're stressed, exercise can really help clear your head for a while.
I hope I was able to help a little (:0 -
I'm not going to give you advice about how to diet, cause you already know how to do that. It sounds to me and its just my opinion that you are just emotionally burnt out. You need to get some YOU TIME and if your friends on here aren't really involved anymore then perhaps it's time to add some new friends. There are thousands of people on this site from all different countries and new members joining everyday who are looking for people like you (who have lost a lot of weight ) to motivate them and who can motivate you also.
I hope you feel better soon..x0 -

I'll listen whenever you need an ear
Never forget that you are doing this for yourself, and only you can make you proud.
Lots of love from Rainy Glasgow (Scotland) xxx0 -
Thank you everyone. I really needed some support. I am truly emotionally burnt out and there is really no way to get out my frustration because I am always around the people who are stressing me out. Thank you for all the love and support it REALLY helps! Feel free to add me. Always looking for new friends0

It sounds like you are worn out physically and emotionally. You need to take some time for yourself and find something to help you relax and reflect. Instead of laying around on your day off, get up and take a walk. It doesn't have to be a power walk (unless you want it to be) but just get out and be by yourself. It would be a great time to think about things, cry if you need to and just have some time alone. The added bonus is you would be up and moving and that would help you feel better about yourself, because you would be getting a little workout in too! Take care girl, everything happens for a reason and nothing lasts forever. Better days are just around the corner. Feel free to send me a friend request if you like.0

Congrats on the weight loss! Sounds like you recently went to 3rd shift, correct? If so, you've got to remember it takes time to adjust (I worked 3rd for 2 1/2 years) because my schedule was weird (6on, 1 off, 4 on, 3 off) I didn't adjust well, maybe you will.
My first suggestion would be to eat something a little more substantial at work, or at least bring some fruits and veggies to supplement ( I know it's weird to eat in the middle of the night, but this is now your "day"), next take exercise clothes to work and change as soon as you punch out, then go to the gym, for a walk, whatever your exercise routine is (this is your 5 o'clock, after work workout), go home and practice your normal "evening" acts (watch some tv, read a book, put the dishes in the dishwasher, whatever), go to bed.
What is your work schedule like? Do you have a set schedule? On your days off do you revert to a day schedule or try to keep it closer to your night schedule (this apparently was my downfall, I would stay up for 24 hours on my first or one day off each week, on my 3 off, I would be in bed asleep by 5-6pm because I was exhausted) These might be things you need to look at.
I think somebody on this topic suggested checking out the night shift groups, check those out, the people in those groups can probably give you some great suggestions about how to adjust to working nights so you can get on track. Best of luck to you!0 -
BTW way I work the overnight, you just need to take the time out 30 min a day to yourself, also read the book, "don't sweat the small stuff" it is an eye opener.0

Listened , and also you can add me if you want to. I understand, I used to slip up bad on my days off, before I got on this site 6 days ago..but last weekend I made a firm effort to stay away from junk foods on the weekend, but its hard sometimes.I dont work out all of the time, just about 30 minutes a day total , thats broken up into 10 minutes exercises..I feel like if I start out slow like that Im less likely to stop, and more likely to start to be able to do more exercises.Im not extremly overweight, but compared to what I was years ago I am. I just want to feel good about myself. And Im sure you do too.Maybe on the weekends you just need to switch up the routine some, maybe a lighter work out so you dont dread doing it..I dont know , I know its hard. Here to listen anytime0

First of all, congratulations on the terrific weight loss. That took commitment and determination to do. After any big weight loss there is a period of time when your weight will adjust to no longer being on a diet. It may vary a few pounds. If you are feeling heavier though you already know what to do. It sounds like your days are very stenuous and full of activity. Unfortunately, that doesn't take the place of exercise to keep all your muscles in tone. Try walking fast on your days off. Get built up to about 45 minutes. This will help relieve your stress. Stress causes weight gain in women. I know you are tired but stress and depression cause that. You have a lot on your plate. A physically hard job, health problems with your husband and not having your own place can cause depression. You may need to see about that. Forgive your self for straying and take small steps to get back on track. After your husband's surgery he will need physical therapy and a lot of help. That will be stressful as well so do something about this as soon as possible. I am available to talk anytime. Ask for help when you need it. I'm going to send you a friend request.0

I understand the freak out. The other day I went over my calories by 49 and I was like panicking. Then I said to myself - chill out!! This is not the end of the world, tomorrow i'll re-adjust to make sure I stay within my goal. Someone suggested the book 'Don't Sweat the Small Stuff' - I am DEF going to check this out - you should too! It's only 2 pounds, that will come right off. Did you adjust MFP to make your lifestyle "active" since you constantly move during work? Ease up on yourself on the weekends - you need to ENJOY this experience, it shouldn't stress you out. Friend me if you'd like! You got this - 40 pounds already gone!0

Congratulations on losing 41 pounds so quickly! That to me is great motivation!! I hope to lose that much soon too.
You shouldn't get down about this road block. It happens to everyone. It does seem like you are burning a lot of calories at work, but you need to buy a HRM and see for yourself how many you burn at work. MFP sometimes overdoes the calories! That way you can calculate it yourself, and know exactly how many calories you can eat each day.
Thank you for being such a motivation to me! Everything will fall in place soon! Good luck0 -
i think you should try to work out on your days off at least, and is it possible for you to eat a better lunch than lunchables?? those are not filling enough for an adult and they don't have all the good stuff you need. just try to get back on track, it will be much easier to get those extra couple of pounds back off and keep going than to let it spiral out of control and be back at square one.
also, if this job is something new and more physically demanding than before, then its okay to count that for now, but if it's the same thing you've been doing, i'm sorry, but it doesnt count.
consider taking a multi-vitamin, i suggest one a day + energy and that should boost your energy level up some, also, exercise will give you more energy if u can get urself to do it. i think that maybe once u get adjusted to working nights, your body will become more alert at the right times too... hopefully0
