What do you wish you'd known when you started?

or what would have helped you get started, if you'd known it back then?

Here are two things I wish I'd figured out earlier in my journey:

1. LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS. As a cardio junkie I resisted this forever. Anything that didn't add to the calorie total on my heart rate monitor felt like a complete waste of time! But I've seen more transformation in adding ten minutes of heavy weights to each workout than I would have believed possible.

2. Protein, protein, protein. I used to just count calories, but now that I've tried to bring my carb-protein ratio more to where MFP says it should be, I REALLY notice that I'm less hungry and more alert. It's made sticking to 1500 a day WAY easier. I don't try to do low-carb, just 40/30/30.
