Beauty is skin deep. . .
While I was growing up I was a bit of a tomboy but had some girlie moments but my mom treated me much like the tomboy I was, until I hit high school and BOYS! My mom is a very natural beauty and has been pretty much all her life. She was Miss Popular in high school, being Prom and Homecoming Royalty, dating my dad who was Mr. Sports Jock etc. She has been a hair stylist and a Mary Kay rep. While she knew quite a few beauty tricks she never really shared them with me.
Over the years I have become more and more aware that with aging skin and body changes that beauty routines are very important to our health just as important as eating right, exercising and keeping hydrated.
So my question is. . . .
What are some of the beauty tricks, tips or knowledge you wish you had learned sooner in life? Or do you have a few tips to share that your mom/sister/aunt taught you when you were younger that has really helped in your beauty routine.

One of my favorite products is Vaseline. I use the stuff to remove my eye makeup, put it on my lips before bed, rub into my heels or other dry patches. I even use it on the parts of my feet where new heels rub so I don't get blisters. I carry a small tub in my purse for emergencies.0

Okay, not to brag but I'm 40 (almost 41, actually) and have very few lines or wrinkles on my face. I started using Oil of Olay when I was 13 years old much to the amusement of family and friends. I didn't care what they said about being young, I just knew I wanted to age gracefully. I also have pretty much avoided the sun for the last 25 years or so. I go outside with sunblock and cannot remember the last time I just sat and baked in the sun. People are always guessing my age to be at least 10 years younger than I am. I'm living proof that one doesn't have to be a wrinkled old lady once you hit 40. P.S. My profile is open and there's a black and white face pic in there so you don't think I'm lying, lol.
Long story short: Take the steps when you're young to prevent future aging then when you're my age, you'll be happy you did.0 -
always put on moisturizer with SPF before make up.
Always wash off make up before bed
Lotion hands, elbows, and feet before bed0 -
Take care of your skin and face! It doesn't need to be expensive, but do it every single day! And ....take care of you hair.....a great cut/color can do wonders!:laugh:0

Coconut oil and Vaseline are the best moisturizers on the planet. Proactiv should have been invented AGES ago....I absolutely love it, and finally....................
The best thing I've ever done for my skin was to completely STOP wearing make up. I've not worn it in over 2 years and my skin is much better for it. So much better, in fact, that walking through my daughter's high school with her, one of her friends thought I was a new student.
(I'll be 40 in February)0 -
I definitely need to do the lotion hands, elbows, & feet every night. I fall in bed and forget some nights.
One product that I have fallen in love with is the Simple brand. I thought for the longest time that I had oily, acne prone skin, come to find out I have DRY skin. When the skin is dry it will clog your pores and cause break outs. I use the face wash every morning and night, the toner when I I feel like my face needs it and I have both the lotions that I rotate.
I do have the Olay Night cream. It's just the plain pink lotion for night time.
For makeup I have started leaning toward tinted moisturizer or if I need something a little heavier I lean towards Tarte which has no chemicals. I don't wear much, just a pea size and blend with a brush.0 -

I should get the Oil of Olay. Is that what the box says? How much does it cost? Do you think it would work at 30?0 -
my mom started me on a skin regimen when I was twelve and taught me all the stages and what ages to start working them in to my routine. Thanks to my mom, no one can tell im going to be 33 Tuesday.0

I'm awful to my skin.....oh my poor skin!
I always wear sunscreen or bare minerals foundation with SPF in it. However, I'm an anxious person and I constantly have my hands on my face, it's such a terrible habit that I'm not sure how to break.
Ironically, I'm obsessed with beauty products, and I just purchased Alba brand Pineapple Enzyme facial wipes that act as a cleanser/toner/makeup remover. It's all natural and smells really good. I feel like I could use them more than just a night, because I can tell a small difference already, just after a week!
I use Bare Minerals foundation in the winter and Bare Minerals "A Little Sun" bronzer in the summer. Love Urban Decay and MAC eye shadows!!
I don't currently use a night cream or moisturizer ....eek!
Anyone have any natural recommendations for one?
Once a week, I put a ton of lotion on my feet and sleep in heavy socks. When I wake up in the morning, my feet are so soft, including my heels and ankle bones!
My mom looks really young, and I'm hoping some of those genes have been passed down, but I'm completely ruining everything good I"m doing for my face, when I constantly have my hands on it and mess with it. Grr.0 -

Definitely make the investment. I believe it's about $15.00 where I live. At 30, I think it would work, absolutely! Start now and in ten years, you'll still look 30, lol.0 -
All I can say is... take care of it NOW... it's never too early... I think the only hope for me now is botox...0
