How to log unfinished meals?

Hi MFP-ers :)

I've been really good at weighing everything that goes on my plate and into my recipes to get the calorie count as accurate as possible. I really worry about the calorie counts being inaccurate...

I'm confused though...I just had my lunch, and I made a massive salad with chicken, and I couldn't finish all of it! I know I might get hungry later, especially when I'm doing the 30 Day Shred, so I've popped it back in the fridge, but how do I log it?

I logged it before I ate it based on the weights I used..but if I don't eat the leftovers, what should I do?

Would you try to estimate what was left, or just leave it and consider it some 'banked' calories?

Thanks,
Annabel

Just change the portion size to what you think you ate.

If I know I will finish something later, I leave it in there. Who cares if I ate half for lunch and half for supper and the whole thing is on my lunch menu? :)

If you eat it later then don't worry about it. When I don't finish something (which is rather infrequent) I just weigh what I had left and adjust my diary accordingly. If you weighed it going on the plate then it should be easy to just deduct what's left over :)

I would just leave it as it is. If you get hungry later, you can eat it. If you don't get hungry later, then you don't need the calories back anyway, and it shouldn't matter.

It shouldn't be all that many calories, anyway. I've only gone back and changed portions when it made a significant caloric difference, like I logged that I ate a whole portion of something at 700 calories but only ate 1/2 of it at 350.
