The estimates on here are just that. They best thing to do is invest in a heart rate monitor that measures the calories burned to get a more accurate measure.

Hey Doll, Before getting an HRM to properly measure my own calorie burn I used this site to calculate. http://caloriesburnedhq.com/zumba-calories-burned/

Since everyone is different, I'd say get a HRM. That way you can have a more accurate gauge of the calories you burned, instead of over/under estimating. I have friends that do Zumba and some burn WAY more calories than that while others barely burn over 300. Good luck!

I use zumbacalories.com but always allow for the fact that it may be a higher estimate than I actually burned. Hope this helps and yes - I love Zumba too!

don't forget to calculate your basal calorie rate and subtract that from your cardio burned...like for example I burn 87 calories watching TV so if I burn 1000 calories doing zumba I subtract 87 and use the net calories burned so I don't double dip.

I also recommend getting an HRM. I've only done Zumba twice. The first time I burned about 400 calories and the second time I barely hit 200 calories... doing the exact same DVD. You just really have no idea unless you use a monitor.

I took a 1 hour zumba class and wore my HRM. Great workout! My heart rate stayed way up the whole time. I burned 700 calories in one hour. Everyone is different though. My HRM is set to my height, weight, sex and age.

I find that most online calculators overestimate. I bought a Polar FT7 HRM and use it religiously. I have to admit sometimes I wonder if it is accurate, too. But I would rather underestimate calories burned than overestimate and eat too much! I do not subtract what I would burn if I were sitting still  . I log what I burn when I work out, period. It's not double dipping. It's accurate. That's like saying you only log half your water intake for the day because you are going to urinate the rest out!
