Introduce myself? Yikes! Scary.

okay.... here goes:

I'm a first time dieter --- that is, this will be the first time I am setting a goal to actually lose weight (as opposed to just talking about it or wishing it would melt off or..... ) I intend to lose 55 lbs before Oct 2010 (when my stepdaughter is getting married), though I wouldn't mind if it came off a lot earlier than that !

I'm hoping that I can pull off the weight, return to a more active lifestyle & then forget all about watching what I eat again (but I suspect that isn't too practical if I don't want to end up back where I am now).

I'm sort of a vegetarian (no dairy, but I do eat eggs and raw fish) and I LIKE cooking & food *sigh* so this might be a bit of a challenge. Fortunately this site seems full of people who are actually losing weight & everyone still seems to be eating something, so I'm hopeful.
