I'm in a viscous motivation cycle right now and I don't know how to get out of it. I haven't TRULY worked out in forever. I feel gross. I know to feel better I need to work out, but I don't feel good enough to go workout. Any advice/suggestions?

The only advice I have is to Just DO IT! There have been long stretches in my life where jobs, personal issues, etc have kept me from exercising... and I too felt really crappy. But really the only way to get it going, is just to start.
Start wherever you are at, and don't stop. Make it something you look forward to...
For me, what really helped was finding the time of day that worked for me. I always had to drag myself to the gym after work and never really felt great. Now I work out midday and that is wayyyy better for me.
Try finding something you LIKE to do. that will help too. I started spinning, which I formerly HATED. Now I kick butt at it. but I'm also looking for different things to do all the time to keep my body confused.
If you are worried about the way you look, and that keeps you from the gym, Girl, all I can say is, everyone is in the same boat as you. Everyone there is there to get healthy no matter what they look like. And hot dudes can be motivating to me, ehhee.
You also can always start at home. I don't like many dvds, but I started JM's kickboxing dvd b/c I like her, and I like kickboxing as exercise so I do that when I have time.
You can always add awesome and supportive friends like me too! And when you start getting on a role, your friends will applaud you and help you to keep going
You can do thisEva

1. Start with going for long slow walks,... then build to faster
2. Find a workout friend, if you are that type of person (I prefer to workout by myself)
3. Take that bike sitting in the garage out for a routed ride with friends and maybe picnic (If you have a bike)
4. Find a one time class of something you have never tried before and do it (Mine would be pole-dancing)
5. Start walking to places instead of driving (I'm a big hypocrite for this... i drive everywhere :grumble: )
Hope those help.0 -
What are your goals? Can you see where you want to go?
In practical terms I like to do things socially, so biking with people got me going. Get a RL friend to help you out.
How about doing a 30 day shred - takes 30 min at home.0 -
Thanks guys.
I totally agree with what ya'll are saying.
I have the schedule, DVDs, gym classes & membership, plus a pool at my complex. It's just getting up and going, when all I want to do is sleep.
I guess I fell of the horse and need to get back on.0
