........your body? (What did you think I was gonna say?)
The problem isn't our bodies telling us, it is whether or not we listen - or even care to. I talk about this a lot with my friends. Your body talks, do you listen?
The easiest example I have is when I eat crappy food. My body tells me, almost immediately. It can be as little as being slightly tired to being completely lethargic. That is my body talking to me. Sometimes the stuff I put in my body resents makes me feel physically sick to my stomach! It may not even be "bad" (like a giant filet), it may be the portion I ate.
I by no stretch of the imagination am saying don't ever splurge or have a Treat Meal. But the trade off between putting crap in and how you feel after can be big. For some it is not just physical, it is also psychological. Let's say you eat a bowl of ice cream. You feel bad about yourself for eating it (and maybe you shouldn't feel bad - everyone is different)...but then it can become a cycle. You eat something you feel you shouldn't and aren't happy, then you get down on yourself for eating it, and since you are down on yourself you say "screw it" and eat some more. I've done it. Anyone? Anyone? ;-)
Enjoy life. Eat some "crappy food" (whatever it is for you) every once in a while. But I challenge you to do this. Everything you eat for the next few days....see how you feel after. I guarantee you that if you eat an apple, you will probably feel good after. If you eat a box of Milk Duds (I love those stupid things) - ahh, maybe your body doesn't feel the same as after the apple?? Once you figure these things out and listen (not just hear), it can take you a long way to reaching your goals.
FR me if you like encouragement (and the occasional smart alec - funny smart alec - remarks).

Sure do, that's why I cut all grains and sugar from my diet. I just feel slow, lazy, tired, bloated and gross when I eat that stuff.
That's not to say it doesn't happen VERY occasionally, but I know that I'm eating junk and expect the resultant feeling, so I limit how much I eat quite a bit.0 -
I have no idea how to listen to my body lol!! i dont even know when im hungry its only when my head starts hurting that I know i should probably eat

LOL. You are a mess girl. It's like the stupid Wheat Thins I ate earlier. But I did it in moderation before I turned the box over to the wolves outside my office.0 -

Haha this is what I do at my work when I don't want to eat more of something. Then I watch them come from all directions and circle like vultures.0 -

WATER!! Yes, it's amazing how dehydration (even when we don't think we are hydrated) effects our body!0 -
Sometimes it is easier than others. It is impossible to separate the body-mind connection, and sometimes the mind really, really needs a beer or three.
This week I have been hungry. I increased my calories, added protein and fiber, am drinking a bunch of water, and yet I know I could easily go 3000 kcal without batting an eyelash. I'm afraid my body is telling me that it is protesting my weight loss efforts and to knock it the **** off. My mind is saying that I need to stay vigilant and not give in to the cravings.
For now, I'll just work at staying busy. It's hard to overeat when you have too much to do.0 -

My mind needs tequilla or three, but hey, a beer or 3 works...0 -
A bottle of wine. LOL. It probably told you it liked what you were doing to it last night!!! But what did your body tell you about that this morning???
Do you get really loud when you drink that much? Just curious... Most people I know get loud and their pitch goes up within just a few drinks.0 -

It took me quite a while (and many pounds)but I'm starting to learn to listen. At times, it's like learning a new 2nd language
Thanks for the reminder.0 -
Off topic (sort of) but funny (to me)...
When I read the first sentence I immidiately though of that song from the 80's, "Let's Get Physical" with the lyrics, "Let me hear your body talk, your body talk!"
:glasses:
Yes, I know, I'm dating myself a little.0 -

LOL. That is awesome. OMG....I was IN LOVE with Olivia Newton John back those days. Last part of Grease in that leather outfit. Haha. "We go together like....."0
