Do you do your regular work out when it's your TOM, or do you lower the intensity? I did my usual on Sunday and Tuesday but I was struggling and my legs felt like they weighed a ton, yesterday I started with my usual and just ended up walking instead of running. My TOM started today and I just don't feel like running at all tonight. I still want to go to the gym, but am I being a wimp if I just walk the whole time instead of run/walk?

Everyone has their off days. I would go and just walk. You are still getting some endorphins going which are a great pain killers.0

A wimp? Heck no. I can't even get out of bed when TOM arrives. Its a serious task just to make it to the bathroom for me. I know I'm an extreme example, but if I could walk during that time, I would be so happy.
It is a time for women to rest thier bodies. So lowering the intensity is perfectly ok. Consider yourself lucky that you can do anything at all. Some of us would litterally give our uteruses to have some physical ability during that time.0 -
Try your best to keep ur usual workouts - believe it or not it will get easier. My first TOM after I joined MFP was bad like what u are describing, but after the 2nd and 3rd one on MFP I was pretty much able to stick to my regular work out routine. And this is coming from someone who has PMS 2 weeks before the TOM - headache , back ache, cramps, bloating etc.
It will get easier as time goes by. Just don't sit at home doing nothing. Try to overcome it.0 -
When that happens to me, nothing helps better than moving around. I would try to go to the gym if i were you, if you can't do your usual workout then just do what you can. I read somewhere that the best thing for PMS is to get moving, even though its the last thing you want to do. Sometimes i throw up from my cramps but if i can get moving in time even if its just for a fast walk then i will be okay0

I remember my GYN telling me that breaking a sweat helps to relieve the headaches, speeds up the "cleansing process" because it gets your blood moving, and lessens the bloating. But when it is my TOM, working at a lower intensity actually has me burning about the same calories because it is such a struggle for me, like I'm carrying around a 20 lb backpack or something. So, try and break a sweat and drink lots of water. Then go home and have a nice warm bath and glass of wine/warm milk and relax. You'll have earned it!0

For me it just depends on the day. Some days I can do it... usually once that week though I have to just take it easy and walk. Your body will tell you what it needs.0
