so im always confused about the calorie counter . . .. because iv heard people say not to eat all ov what you burned. but i burned 1071 calories and my goal intake is 1490 and so i hate 108 over those two numbers combined so it says im -108 so if i did 100 calorie burn right now does that mean im still ok or did i just screw up my day lol i wasnt planing on eating that much it just happened :/

Replies

  • If your numbers are correct if you burned another 108 calories right now or over the next little while you will still be on course for your original weightloss goal.
  • I am a little concerned though, unless you are doing major exercise your numbers seem too high. I'm a 6'1" male, around 220, do 90 minutes a day on a spin bike, plus weights and even though my Fitbit/MFP adjustment tells me I need to consume 3800 calories to keep my 2lb per week weightloss, even eating all day I can only ever get to between 1900-2200 calories consumed. 2600 seems a lot, unless, as I said you are doing very intense cardio workouts.

Don't worry about it too much... you'll find that after exercising your body is still burning calories.. you could say do a class and it says you've burnt 900 calories and then your body is still burning and could burn another 100-200 calories.. its mearly a guide to help you.. dont stress too much about it..

You get a lot of eat back calories vs. don't eat back calories, so I think it's more what you feel comfortable with and what keeps you over the 1200 minimum. Most people will say your NET count should be on the positive (your NET is your recommended calorie intake minus how many calories you burn) as it helps, but some people have trouble eating more than their original count or up to however many calories they burned.

As for your situation, if you went 108 calories over your limit for the day and exercise enough to put you back in the positive, then you're okay. It's usually not recommended that you exercise just to eat more and nothing else, but sometimes we can go over and that's ok.

yes i am lol i burned a total of 1071 calories. goal calorie intake is 1490. so i had 4 slices of pizza :/ which pushed me over the edge thats like a thousand calories lol i dont know how much im not going to look lol but now im negative 108 calories because when you burn it gives you those calories back. so i had 2561 calories i could eat . . . but iv heard people say to not eat all those calories that you burned only eat half and that darn pizza did me in lol . . . . so thats why i was asking if i did a 100 calorie work out if that would put me back on track.

Her goal isn't high, it's 1490. Most people either get around 1500 or 2000 depending on their lifestyles and their lbs per week goal. I have no idea where you got 2600 unless you added up her deficit, what she burned, and how much she went over.
  • Lol....one more addendum...I'm not promoting doing what I'm doing, I am not intending to run that much of a deficiency, I just physically can't eat any more, just make sure your numbers are correct and you aren't over estimating, and what I have always done is to try and at least be a few hundred calories less than my allowance, that way if I underestimate a food then I hav a little wiggle room.

Nothing wrong with trying to fit in a food by burning a little more, a lot of people if they want certain foods and know what the calorie count is and weigh it against the rest of their day will purposely work out enough so that they can eat it without going over. The fact you went over anyway is fine, as long as it's not an every day thing then you're not hurting yourself.

see i dont want to burn all the calories from the pizza lol thats why i was asking lol . . ... im asking if i burned the -108 cals that im over is that puts me back to being ok with my calorie intake for today lol theres no way im going to do a 45 min work out right now lol i have to go to bed soon thats why i figured if i got in a quick 100 cal burn right now if that would set me straight for my goal today or am i going about this all the wrong way lol
  • Realistically, look at this in the long term. Is going over one day going to cause a sudden increase in weight, nooooooo, just endeavor to do better tomorrow. We all have slack days, yesterday I only did 45 minutes on my bike ( slacker) but today I worked out twice as hard. Just relax, savor the pizza, get up tomorrow and get back on track.
