My TDEE is 1844 and my BMR is 1196...MFP has me on 1200 calories a day, I exercise 5 times a week, I do 1hr cardio x2, I am doing 30d shred everyday apart from one rest day, I do lifting x2 (only just started that though) and do 20mins of HIIT and also do strength with ankle weights on ie leg raises, donkey kicks etc for about 15 mins every other day.

I'm 5ft nothing if that..more like 4'10 and just trying to get the last 3 pounds off..has MFP set my calories too low? I'm currently 106lbs but I was 103 before I had my son 9 years ago and I really want to get back to that weight. Always been quite fit but I have found my weight has not shifted since I started my journey. I did lose 4lbs at the very start but. Was carrying a lot of water.

Should I increase my cals? I've learnt on here my cals should be somewhere between the two but I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thank you

You should have your weight loss set to about .5 pound a week right now. You have so little to go. You could probably do 250-500 off TDEE and be good.

Yes that's the setting I have it on

Do you mean I can eat a bit more? Not sure what you mean? :blushing:

Yes, I would try eating a bit more. Take your TDEE-250 and TDEE-500 and eat between the two. See how that works. It will be slow either way for 3 pounds.

They're saying set your goal to about 250-500 calories below your TDEE. So that would be the 1844 you listed minus 250-500 calories. So between 1344-1594. Set your calorie goal somewhere in there, at least that's what the other poster is saying. I would say they're likely right.

Which would probably be comparable to MFP's net of 1200 + exercise calories.

Check out this link and do your numbers - you need to include you body fat% in the calculation to be more accurate.

But always eat more than you BMR, And with only 5lb to lose about 10-15% below you TDEE. Make sure that you were accurate with you activity level when you figure your TDEE.

So from your number you can be eating around 1500 cals - If you used the correct activity level then you excercise cals are already factored in so don't eat them back.

Thanks everyone, I shall up my calories

Edited to add...how do I change my calorie allowance?
  • I, too, am stuck in the "nothing seems to change" zone for two months now. My TDEE is 1593. I am eating between 1000 - 1200 calories a day, If I eat 250 - 500 less than my TDEE as suggested on this feed, I should be eating 1093 - 1343. I walk about 3 miles a couple times a week and take short bike rides for exercise. Heath issues prevent strenuous workouts. I guess I'm just NOT getting it because nothing seems to be working for me. I've tried eating more, eating less, exercising more, exercising less, etc. Nothing seems to work for me and, yes, I am very discouraged. I'm starting to feel like lack of acceptance is my problem!

We must both keep going....we are making ourselves healthy inside...the outside is just taking a little more time :flowerforyou:

You could try two days a week at 500 calories and ~30g of protein, a sort of modified intermediate fasting protocol.

also....make sure you are NETTING your daily intake. If you want more accuracy, I'd highly recommend a HRM and be sure to eat back all of those exercise calories!

Initially I didn't realize that I was only netting 600-800 cals per day based on MFP's calculations. Did a lot of research on TDEE, BMR, eating more to weigh less....I've upped my NET to 1430 and ALWAYS eat back my exercise cals. My body is responding really well and it's so nice to actually eat! :)

Would we still do exercise if we did that?
