Breast Implants

My fitness goal for losing my desired 22 pounds is to get breast implants once I reach my goal weight. My husband doesn't want me to have them, but I am a 34B and I feel like if I am doing it for the right reasons then why not? I am thinking of a large C cup. Do you think this is a bad weight loss motivator to have? I have always wanted them and I'm 25 now, I think I am able to make this decision rationally at this point in my life. Thoughts?

I would never do it personaly because you are garanteed to need to have more then 1 surgary, there is like a 52% chance of complications, either they turn hard, bust, your body rejects it, and they have to be replaces every 10 years or something like that, I seen a guy of TV awhile back that does breast implants, and he advised against women getting them, so ya, Ill stick to a good bra, Im also a 34B but if thats what you realy want, then go for it.0

I have them, and honestly it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I absolutely love mine and they look very natural.0

I am a year away from my BSN degree so the complications are what truly freaks me out. More so than that my major downfall for getting them would be the required upkeep surgery every 10 years. Yet, then a lot of my friends say it is worth it all and they would do it all over again. I am torn.0 -

I am glad they turned out how you wanted. I think I seriously need them for a confidence boost. I have low self esteem when it comes to my body. I am hoping they would make me feel better about myself and confident! Thanks for the input!0 -

My advice to you, if you're even considering getting them done go talk to a doctor. They'll have more information for you on details and all. I live in MD (not sure where you're located) and my doctor was awesome. I would also check out different surgeons before and after photos so you can choose the right doctor for you. Generally good surgeons will not push you into scheduling your surgery that day and will just be open and honest with you about risks and such. Good luck to you!0 -
Complications aren't even what scares me, but just simple recuperation! Ouch!
As a girl who has large breasts (I'm currently a 32E), I can't honestly say that I've even ever considered them, but some perspective from this side... I know a C cup isn't LARGE, but it will change the way your clothes fit and change your options in bras and swimwear. They will change the way you exercise (I never even considered running until very recently, and now only with a very, very supportive bra. Oh, and my golf swing--it's a bit strange because have to make adjustments for my chest).
Finally, I don't know your life plan or anything like that, but you are still pretty young... Breast implants will affect whether or not you can breastfeed if/when you decide to have children. Also, pregnancy/childbirth/breastfeeding change your body in ways you cannot even fathom. If you do plan on having kids, you may want to save your surgery until after that.0 -
I cant understand why women want bigger breasts. 34B is a perfect size, you should enjoy them! No back problems and there are men like me who love small breasts! Since your husband doesnt want you to have implants, that means he like small breasts too so be happy with them! :P0

Speaking from experience, I did not get mine to please a man. I could careless what anyone else thought about it... I got them because that's what I wanted for ME. My boyfriend at the time, now my fiance, did not think I needed them but he supported me in the decision. I actually have no back problems associate with mine and they are 34D depending on the store 34DD.0 -

I guess I should, which is why I am still debating it. I know my husband loves me the way I am and I am lucky he does. Looking at the media it seems like every woman who is considored sexy has huge breasts! I want to feel sexy too!0 -
Just do your research. My father is a plastic surgeon and he spends as much time fixing other doc's botched jobs as he does performing original operations. (exaggerating, of course, but you get my point). Make absolutely sure your surgeon is Board certified (check http://www.plasticsurgery.org/) and talk to people who have had work done by that surgeon.
Good luck! With the right surgeon you are going to be very happy with your new look.0 -

I do not have kids yet, which I fully consider being a good reason to wait. I would like to breast feed in the future, but I have one year of my Bachelor's left and then I plan on getting my Master's before I have kids. I will be at least 30 when I have children, with that in mind, I feel like if I do not get implants now I won't even be able to enjoy them in my twenties!0 -
Big boobs aren't all they're cracked up to be. I have a hard time wearing cute shirts, dresses with formed tops, bathing suit tops, etc. As long as you're aware of things like that then do what you need to do to make yourself happy.0

A friend of mine just had both breasts removed due to cancer. She tried implants and twice her body rejected them. She is staying "as is" for now and will re-look at it in a year. Talk to your doctor....get all the pros and cons. Another friend got them then a year later had them removed...still not sure why!0

What if they don't?
Personally I think each to their own, but I don't think you should get them to 'fix' other issues other than wanting larger breasts.0 -
Thanks for all the advice ladies. I really appreciate it. It gives me something to think about. I am definitely not jumping into it, I have been researching and debating a few years now.0

You're still young, your breast may get bigger with kids and age. I was a barely B and then found myself sporting D cups after the kiddos. I've lost 40lbs and they are still a C now. Personally I wouldn't go through major surgery for boobies. Sexy can come in all sizes.0

This is very true. Be ready to make friends with someone who can alter your tops because finding some that fit may be difficult.
I spent a very long time striving for what the media told me was what I was supposed to look like. It's a fallacy. Big breasts on small women look ridiculous and I don't care what anyone says, they look fake.
I'm 5'4" and a 34B. I think my proportions are beautiful and I can easily find clothes that fit. Having breastfed 2 children I do wish I could lift my breasts a bit, but most lifts take out so much tissue that I would need implants, which I am not willing to do.
I most certainly am not against surgery though. I have had a modified tummy tuck to remove my "widow's apron" and I have a silicone chin to correct my undersized lower jaw.0 -
Go for it!! Just beware, you can't say, "Oh, I want a large C cup" because that means NOTHING. I'm telling you. I said, "I want a small D". The week before surgery my boyfriend and I decided to go for a large D. Might as well, since I'm paying thousands for them, better make it worth it, right? So I told my Dr about the size change as he was marking me up before surgery. He was thrilled with the idea. So he said that instead of going for 400cc's we'll do 480. I realized after the surgery that I had made a mistake. Because I had huge pornstar boobs! Granted, I was still swollen but they were HUGE! I cried....a lot. This is not what I wanted, not at all. I never wanted to be the chick with the huge boobs. But that's what I am. I'm known for them. Ugh. So here I am, 1 year 4 months post op, wearing a 34 DDD bra. Don't get me wrong. This is an improvement from the 34A I used to wear. But it's too much for me.
So please, do your homework on how many CC's you want. Bra size means nothing.0 -
If breast implants are going to make you happy and give you self esteem then do it!
Now it is not bad motivation because it is mine! My bf told me once I hit my goal weight he will buy them for me. I know a lot of women that have them and never had any complications and wouldnt change their decision on getting them.0 -
good topic. I too have often thought about getting implants. I'm a 34B but would love to be a full C cup. My husband and I have discussed this many times. He says he's worried they wouldn't look or feel completely "real" and doesn't want me to lose my natural beauty. Although it's obvious you are a natural beauty, personally I say do whatever makes you happy. And if that's your motivator to workout then more power to you!!0

You are so right about the media and many stars getting implants. You have to make that decsision for yourself. There also very natural breasted Actresses and they are beautiful and I hope they never get implants. Kate Hudson, Gorgeus does not need implants and she is beautiful. Zoe Saldana, Michelle Pffeifer, Lucy Liu. There are so many, its just that its easier to see the big breast, wether real or not.
I have vey small breasts, I do not think I ever want bigger breasts, I actually enjoy my small ones, but I know many people who want bigger ones, or shapely ones. I also know a friedn who got them reduced to a very small size, said she felt uncomfortable exercising with them
Think it over and its so awesome that your man does lets you know you do not need them.0 -
I would wait until you reach your goal to make a decision. I'm a 32A and the thought has crossed my mind before but the more and more I think about it, I really wouldn't get them done. It is kinda funny, but I like the option of being able to throw on a pushup bra if I want a different look, but not be committed to always having the same size! And being able to go without a bra.0

so.. I have implants. honestly for me it was the best thing I ever did. best money I ever spent and I love looking in the mirror and being able to look great in tops. but I know my boyfriend and a lot of men prefer the real thing. the only thing is I was an A before and now I'm a large C, and let's just say my small breasts did not match my curvy lower body. it literally looked akward. so I didn't do it for my boyfriend or anyone else for that matter.. I did it for me and I don't regret it one bit.
my only advice to you is to go to a great doctor with great reviews, get them under the muscle, get the gel and not the saline, and go with the armpit or belly button option because I cut right under the breast and that's my biggest regret. the scars fade but not enough.0 -
oh yeah and like someone else said, I would go a bit bigger than you think you actually want, because you are pain a lot might as well go big or go home. I regret doing a big C instead of a little or big D. that's my second biggest regret.0

How ironic... I want to lose weight so I can get a lift and reduction! I had Cushing's Syndrome which blew up not only my entire body, but my top half from a nice, comfortable 34B to a 38D/DD! I HATE it! And no, when I lose weight, it doesn't come off up there. It aggravates the arthritis in my back and I can't sit at a desk or cook at the kitchen counter for long without horrid pain. My body is just not cut out for big boobs.
As for implants? 'Not unless I am forced to by breast cancer or an unfortunate-freak accident with an electric knife...0 -
You were kind enough to give me advice earlier this morning about changing my avatar because of the cleavage showing. You said something about maybe that is my only asset. And you said some other stuff...
I am glad I read this forum from you. I understand where you are coming from a little better now. I hope that you are able to find happiness whether you decide to stay with your perfect 34B or get the implants.
For what it is worth, I offer one thought. Being sexy is 50% confidence. What I am trying to say is that whether your breasts are larger or small, your sexiness comes from your heart. I know people who are drop dead sexy AND too skinny or too fat or ugly, but they are freaking sexy! I also know people who are physical perfection, but not one ounce of sexy in their entire body.
Look in your husband's eyes, and you will see how sexy you already are.0 -
I don't have any advice to give since I don't have them but always wanted them.
But then my boobs must have gotten the memo and had a growth spurt from 32B to 32D and i think they are still growing and the crazy thing is I'm losing weight.... :laugh:0 -

I would really take the time to examine WHY you want them. I get that looking around at others can make you envious, BUT being large chested, is not all the fun you think. Clothes don't fit the same - you look slutty vs cute with certain styles that others can where no problem. They bounce, they sag, they get in the way, lol.
In additon to that - many say they just want to be "this big" - but once you go and look, and try "them on" - most come back wanting BIGGER than they ever thought they would - those that don't complain after surgery.
It really is a lot to think about. Plus, if you want kids - well - if you CAN breast feed, you will likely need a "boost" post.
Think on it, and be SURE before going through with it.
Good luck!0 -

^^I can't tell you how muchI agree with this. I went from a 32AA before kids to a 36F after my 1st. It happens. Now after 4 kids in 8 years I am at a 34D sometimes DD.0
