Cholesterol Test and E.G.F.R. test

Iv'e recently had a cholesterol test, which came back 4.9. My last one was a few years back, and was 3.8. My diet is much healthier now, because i'm Gluten free. Now iv'e been asked to go back to the doctors for an E.G.F.R. test, to test kidney function. Looking on line it usually has something to do with protein in the blood. They also want a urine test. I was wondering if any one else had ever been asked to go back for one of thses tests. I was stating to think it had something to do with me drinking protein shakes, because they also mention creatine in articles.

I'm going off line soon, but would love to here any one elses in put on this.
