I eat roughly 1200-1300 calories a day, with a slightly higher intake on Sats. I exercise a min of 5 days a week. I eat 85% paleo and I am losing incredible slow. Roughly a pound a week. Sometimes nothing for a week or two. I have about 42lbs to be at my dr recommended weight
I tried calorie cycling as well as increasing my calorie intake and gained a stupid pound.
HELP...... You are welcome to look at my food and excercise journal and give me suggestions.
Thank you in advance

How long did you wait to see results from calorie cycling and eating more?
You need to give eating more a few weeks to see any real results.
1 lb a week is perfectly acceptable. Too much too quickly is a recipe for disaster.0 -

That's called normal.
Anything more than that would be too aggressive of a weight loss when you have 40 pounds to lose. Be patient- you didn't put on the weight at a rate of 3 pounds a week and it certainly won't come off that quickly. You are losing at a perfectly normal pace, so keep up whatever you are doing!0 -

I have always heard 2-3 pounds a week is a healthy weight loss if it comes from eating healthy and working out.0 -
It sounds like your doing everything right. Your eating small amount of calories and exercising 5x a week. I think 1Ib of weight loss a week is good. Do you weigh yourself the same time each time you step on the scale? Cuz the time of day you weigh yourself can affect the number on the scale. Also, what is your exercise routine? Maybe you need to push harder on the workout like do interval training or cardio and weights.0

I have lost very slowly too. My first week, I lost 5 pounds. Of course we know most of that is a water loss. I lost consistently for about 3 months and then stopped. I have just maintained (up 1 pound, down a pound, up 2 pounds, down 2 pounds) for 2 months now. I have increased my exercise regimen this week to see if that will get my body losing again. I haven't been 100% perfect, but I am not eating to maintain the weight I am either.
I have learned one thing... take your measurements. I have noticed a decrease every month from that, so all is not in vain. Get some MFP support to help you stay motivated and realize that even 1 pound a week is better than gaining!!
You can do it. Do it for yourself. You are worth it. You only have one life... make it special♥

yes I weigh the same time every morning. I do cardio and weights, every other week I run 3 miles in the am and then do more cardio and weights at night, on the off weeks I just do cardio once a day and weights0 -

Thank you for the pep talk and the reminder to look at all aspects of the weight loss journey! I have def lost inches I can feel it in my clothes, I have gone done 1-2 pants sizes (depending on the brand) and they def counts for something! Sometimes I get so focused on the numbers on the scale (especially now bc I am 2.4 pounds away from a giant milestone for me) that I get discouraged and forget about the inches!!
Good Luck with the new exercise regiment, I hope that budges the scale for you.0 -
When you try something different with regards to your calories or exercise give it more than a week to know if it's working or not.
When you eat little amounts and than switch to the eat more to lose theory you need to give it time for your body to adjust.
You cuold have gained from so many things. Don't only give a change a week to see results... it won't happen in that short of a time usually. Give it a few weeks... weight loss is not linear.
Good luck0 -
A lb a week is a great rate to lose weight! I wouldn't want to lose any more than that per week, unless you have a lot to lose.0
