Ok, so I'm doing my first 5k and I'm super excited...and nervous. I don't know what to expect. It's the dirty girl mud run, any tips, suggestions, things to do/ not do, bring/not bring? I want to be prepared.

I finished my first two weekends ago...

    1) remember bruises heal, go full out, don't worry about pain :)
    2) get DIRTY! You're going to get muddy, so just get it over with quickly... first mud obstacle... dive in. Relish the feeling of mud between your toes, in your hair... it's FUN and feels really neat!
    3) Have FUN! It really is a great time... there are some there to compete, and some just to have fun.
    4) If you want to compete, start your heat at the front of the pack... that will minimize your delays at the initial obstacles, and if you are fast, at the later ones too
    5) try to keep your mouth closed when they're dumping mud over your head... it took me 5 glasses of water to spit the mud out of my mouth! lol (yeah, I'm a mouth breather)
    6) have someone at the finish line with a towel, so you have something to wipe the mud off your eyes - mud in your eyes is actually kind of blinding, though it doesn't hurt.
    7) Did I mention this... HAVE FUN!

I thoroughly LOVED my first run!

I'm even more excited now. I'm actually smiling as I'm writing this! (not an lol type thing when nobody IS ACTUALLY laughing out loud) :)
