Ok so I had a baby in April and have lost all the baby weight, but I still have about 30lbs to lose to meet my goal. I worked hard all summer, but now I am in my first year of nursing school, and working really hard at that now. I always eat a quick healthy breakfast, I take my lunch, usually a protein shake, fruit, fiber one bar and drink a lot of water throughout the day. When I get home though I want to eat everything in sight! Sometimes I just want to eat something yummy after my long day. I need help, I don't want to regain any weight but I am having a hard time...blah

Just finished my first year of nursing school and gained a bit the first semester and lost it the second. You have the right idea with taking your lunch but it doesn't seem like much to eat. What helped me was bringing lots of fresh veggies to crunch on. I pack baggies of baby carrots, green pepper strips, celery ect. to go along with my fruit and high protein. The high fiber kept me feeling full and the fact that I was chewing so much (those raw veggies take a lot of work) made me feel like I had been eating all day. It also helps to try and keep the foods you have weaknesses for out of the house. Mine is nutella and oreos...so we never buy them.

Also, working out consistently helped with the stress. If I didn't get my workout in, I wanted to eat everything in sight simply to releive stress. Also, I hope everyhting is going well in school. It can get tough, but take it day by day and keep going. You'll get there :)

Thanks for the support, I think you're right about working out. I am trying to find good coping mechanisms for all the stress, but finding time to work out is turning into another stressor...but it needs to be a priority. I am just getting into the swing of things. I have 3 kids, a husband and a household to take care of, but I have to keep myself as a priority too.
  • I'm also a nursing student, wife and mom of 4. It is very hard. I'm just about to finish Insanity and sometimes finding that hour a day seems impossible. Good luck!

I'm an RN; graduated in 2011. PM me and I can give you some tips that worked for re: studying. Might help with the stress, which may in turn help with the weight loss.

It must be hard to find time with kids and a husband. I only have a husband and find it hard. Is your family able to do evening walks together? I find it's a great way to get in some activity while also spending time with my husband who I feel like I neglect during the school year.

Bump! I am not a nursing student but I am an occupational therapy student and I totally understand! I attend a lot of study groups and all they ever want to eat is pizza so I would be interested in hearing what I could do. About this lol
