Dawn of the Dead Dash!

So I'm combining my love of zombies and my newfound love of getting into shape and doing the Dawn of the Dead Dash in October. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions about getting prepared for it. The trick is that there's no set course, so there's no set length to prepare for and you don't get to see the map (I've heard it's anywhere from 3-4.5 miles), and it's not a steady race, but you'll be dodging and avoiding zombies along the way to try and stay human and get to safety checkpoints. If you've ever been to the Seattle area, you know that it's not exactly flat terrain either. There are 2 hours to complete it.
Does anyone have advice on how to prepare for something like this, where you're not only trying to finish within the allotted time but you'll have bursts of sprinting and adrenaline thrown in there?
