TWO VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

Hi everyone I was wondering ...
If my BMR is exactly 1507 cal, do I eat 1507 cal/day or UNDER it to lose weight ? Because MFP has put my calorie allowance at 1280 cal to lose 1.5 lbs a week.
This brings me to my next question ...
I'm 5'7", and I weight 152 lbs, with a goal of 130 lbs (for now), my BMI is 23.8, is 1.5 lbs a week too much ? Someone told me I should be losing 0.5 lbs which seems to little.

Generally unless you're obese (which you're not) between 0.5-1.0 lb per week is a safe and realistic goal.0

MFP has you set so low because they expect you to log all exercise and eat those calories as well. I'd say increase your calories by 250 to lose 1 pound per week---so1458 instead of 1250 and add in exercise.0

You should aim at .5- 1 lbs per week.
if your BMR is 1507, THE BARE MINIMUM you should eat is 1557 PLUS anything you burn working out.
you ALWAYS want to eat ABOVE your BMR, not below.0 -
Your weekly weight loss goal is too aggressive. I found this chart posted here. It is a good guide to use to set your weekly weight loss target. Using this will change the number of calories you will consume each day.
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.0 -

Even though i want to lose all my weight in a very short time i think 1 pound a week is very very doable. To me i can eat very normally not cutting anything out. Just learning about Caloric Intake and Deficit was a huge turning point in my life. I have no idea what i have lost (have been on MFP for 4 weeks) but i know clothes i was busting out of now fit nicely. I dont weigh myself, I try and eat balanced, I exercise 7 days a week (i love being fit strong and healthy) and I eat everything. I just count what goes in and what goes out. I thought about it the other day if i lost 1 pound a week that would mean in a years span i would of lost 52 pounds which equates to approx 23 kilos. I know by doing this for the first time the weight will stay off as so many times when dieting i was eating too little. Good Luck with your journey !0
