Hi there,

I am 20 years old and stand at 6ft.
I am not sure what weight I am supposed to be. Right now I am 12st 1lb (169lbs) and I am wanting to get down to 11st (154lbs). Is this healthy?
I do have fat to lose but my BMI is healthy (23.3) and I don't want to overdo it.

However I want to lose the fat first and then start training for an athletic look. How would I go about this?
Do I start with cardio to lose the weight and then hit the gym for weight training?

I have been inspired by the Olympics, haha.

Thanks!

I f your BMI is 23.3 you can go to 20 and still be healthy which is 169 -> 147 so 154 sounds ok to me ( 20.9 BMI).

Healthy BMI is 18.5 - 25. Working out your % body fat may be useful too. http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bf/

At 6' you have a lot of wiggle room. My daughter is 18 and 6' with a large bone structure. She weighs 180 and looks great. She is a competitive cheerleader though and has a lot of muscle (from lifting other girls over her head!). So if you want the athletic look, focus more on the workouts than the scale.
  • I think I will, I have put on weight but I am sure its from workouts so I am avoiding it now!
