question #1
I don't have a distinguishable waist. I would like to have some sort of waist. What exercises would any of you recommend for your sides, not ab work but sides.

question #2
I have just recently started working out pretty much everyday (doing something different every day) at the gym. I have not really lost any weight since starting about two weeks ago. I have like 38 more lbs to go so I do have a lot more to lose. I assume it's just the change in activity. I eat about 1500-1700 a day. I am never hungry and have to make myself eat sometimes. I drink about 3L of water a day. I wanted to know how long should I keep doing what I'm doing before trying to change things up?

You're going to gain a lot of muscle doing what you're doing (yay!) and probably feel much better. You won't lose weight, but you'll look much thinner and certainly be healthier.

Muscle is denser than fat, so gaining muscle and losing an equivalent volume in fat can make you heavier. But it's healthy weight.

Strength training builds bones, which makes it worse.

So don't worry at all that you haven't lost weight yet.

Weight loss is from calorie deficits. Not exciting, but that's what it is. You have to change your eating. If you're gaining muscle, it may take a while to see it with all your exercise, but it will come if you need it.

If you have abdominal fat, exercising will make it go away and give you great abs and maybe a waist. You get a waist because your waist is narrower than your hips and breasts. If you have small hips, you'll never see much of a waist. But you'll look fantastic. If you have a wide pelvis, even when you have no fat on your body, you'll have a waist. That's just genes.

I read (wish I knew where, body building.com I think) that directly exercising your waist can make it look wider/bigger. Britney Spears Syndrome the article called it. You can google it probably. I'm not sure there is anything you can really do about it, as it could be your body type (ruler).
