I need your help... a little out of the ordinary request

In may I had an incident to the left hand (partial fracture and also some ligaments damage). I continued to go to the gym, with elastic bandages and mainly ignoring the pain.
Now after a month break I should resume training but still have a little stiffness and soreness if doing something without warming up. I don't want to injure me again and to be forced to stay away from the gym. The problem is that in krav maga a good part of it is grappling and I need my hand...
Basically I should work regularly with anti-stress balls but I always forget it.
Please could you help me on remembering this? I know it is kind a silly question but.. on my own I am constantly ignoring this...

I'd love to help but have no idea what you are asking. Have you seen your doctor?0

Do you mean you want someone to remind you to use your stress ball regularly? Set an alarm to go off a few times a day. Put a stress ball by the toilet so you can see it everytime you go to the bathroom. Put one by your computer. Anywhere you will see it, and do however many squeezes you have been prescribed whenever you see it.0

set up a reminder system...........................
you could put an alarm on your mobile phone
you could send yourself an email with a deferred delivery date, when you do the exercise resend the email to yourself.
you could put a post-it note on your milk, you have that every morning?
make a to-do list on the puter or on paper
join google calendar or similar.
get many stress balls and scatter them everywhere you sit, table, puter desk etc.
put a picture of your stress ball or some words about it on your ticker
get a friend or family member to nag you - but don't get snarky when they do..
any of these work for you??0 -
You want us to remind you to take your anti stress balls to Krav Maga? Is that what you're asking? :noway:
Write yourself a note and attach it to your purse.
Leave them in your car
Put them with your workout clothes
Put them in your sneakers
Not being mean here but seriously - nobody is going to remember to remind you to take your balls. Most of us can barely remember our own crap.0 -
Remainder didn't work... Friends neither. I remember just when it hurts. So I was hoping that some of you could remind me once in a few days. Maybe this way it will become a habit.
Hoping also that maybe opening this nonsense thread will trigger something in my head. PS you are aloud to make fun on this because is pretty silly. but anyway I still hope it works0 -
You're 32 and you can't set reminders or leave yourself notes? I know I'm being mean, but at some point you need to be an adult and take responsibility for yourself and your health.0

I don't think that was mean at all0 -
I am living by myself since I was 25. Finished my studies so I believe I can care of myself.
But this is one thing that cannot get into my head. That is why I asked your help.0 -

this.
i work in a shelter and have to give residents wakeup calls. some of the residents have nicer phones than me, which allll have alarms on them. in the morning i have to wake my own *kitten* up. when i'm at home i need to take my vitamins, do my workouts, walk my dog, i can't expect people to tell me too.
you need to be empowered and anyone that reminds you is seriously a huge part of your problem.0 -
I have trouble remembering to do things, even when I leave notes and hints in plain sight.
Setting an alarm is the best idea. It's loud, annoying, and catches your attention.0 -
My boyfriend had a serious injury in his hand also so I bought him some 'play dough' and we stored it in the fridge, then when he made breakfast or I made breakfast, when he got the food out of the fridge he would get the play dough out too....at first he would sometimes forget but then when he got in the rhythm he remembered naturally.
Just get in the habit of having it with you. There is no harm, when checking your myfitnesspal, that this alone could be your reminder, whilst sitting here logging your progress you could be excercising the other hand. Or watching your programmes? or in the bath?
Getting into the habit of it is your responsibility. If you keep forgetting then just remind yourself to remind yourself...if that makes any sense.
Do you have regular physio? Perhaps they could be more help if so x0 -
Setting a reminder in your phone didn't work? How could that not work? How would having someone on mfp remind you work better?0
-
Write a reminder somewhere you'll see it often. On the injured hand, on your water bottle, on a note stuck to something you use a lot (monitor, steering wheel, fridge door, toilet, whatever). Every time you see that note, play with your ball. Heh, apologies for the single entendre.
Or, try getting into a new habit which, if you've already got into new eating and exercising habits, shouldn't be too hard. For example, every time you take a bathroom break, spend thirty seconds thinking about what you've done so far today and what things you need to do that you haven't yet done. And then do your special exercise. And there's another single entendre for you. I'll stop now.

ThAnk you for your support. Well this thread somehow worked. Yesterday I was in the car with my father (not driving) and I remember this and start working on stretching. Anyway I've done some fusio before summer but i should continue home. I will let you know if is going to work. It is somehow human nature to forget some of the easiest things to do.0
