Why doesn't strength training/weight lifting count?

How come MFP doesn't count your strength training/weight lifting in the exercise calculator like it does the cardio? I don't know about other people, but I get a pretty good cardio workout when I lift weights and use resistance bands. Seems to me that should count and calories burned.

Or am I missing something?

Go into the cardio section and log it under "Strength Training".
  • It does. It's in the cardio database as "strength training/ weight training"! :)
  • LOL! Figures it was that simple! Thanks everyone!
  • Totally messed up on this, still researching...

David - Add your own excerises if they aren't in the datebase, and be thankful we all are able to use this wonderful site, for free.

I just came here to ask the same question, and honestly, that is a CRAP answer. WII Fitness gets not only one, but multiple listings in the database, but real work.. Weight lifting... has to be lumped into some generic wienie label like "Strength Training"... what if you seriously (as in someone who is serious about tracking progress, not as in some high school colloquial meaningless way) want to break out your exercises, weights, and reps, so you can track your real progress over time? Come on, this is simple... this is a great site, but how about giving some credence to the fact that all of us aren't looking to cut calories and power walk our way to weight loss... some of us have a different but equally valid agenda. MFP, help us out here... put some real exercises in the DB? Can someone from MFP really answer this? Thanx...

Break them out and add your own ... That way everyone else can get the benefit

strength exercises can be tracked individually with reps/weight under strength training, but in order for it to go to your caloric deficit, you'll need to add it under cardio exercises.
