Losing motivation because...

The flirt topic better bring your a game - flirt here

I find posts like this so pointless and I understand people can come here and chat and have fun as well, it just genuinely agitates me that people come here to lose weight and it turns out to be like a dating website in some senses. I can understand why some people give it one look and then disappear because the recent posts are always full of threads like this.. I find it takes away from the point and makes me feel a bit... like... Go on a dating site or a chat room. Why MFP?

Dont get me wrong I can have a laugh and a joke, I dont take things too seriously but this for me is something serious - sorting me weight because of my health. Its hard enough to have motivation but when I read things like that I completely lose my motivation. These people obviously do not consider how important it is for some of us to come on MFP and read motivational things and stories, help other members etc.

My point is I don't understand why you would come on MFP and post stupid things, I understand the casual posts but the flirting ones, I dont really understand those people...

Rant over.

I only browse sometimes and I lose interest pretty quick! I have friends on here that are motivational but the forums suck sometimes!
  • I think that its all part of the game.
They dont take it really seriously. After all, the only two things you and I have in common is that we are on here to help us get fitter and we are Brits.

Apart from that, who cares what other people do?

This whole internet forum thing is the reason I closed my Facebook account. People take it far too seriously.

You are in the right place, being with the right people who are motivated to do what you also want to do and you are doing this for the right reasons.

    Anything else is superfluous.

    I dunno.

Some people feel more motivated if they're getting something out of it that is more than just improving fitness, looking better, etc.

A lot of people see the flirting bit in a way as an NSV. If someone hasn't really gotten much action/attention in a while, it kinda makes them feel more special which in a way is how they want to eventually feel as a goal for the end of their weightloss, so it spurs them on to do more.

I guess everyone is different. I'm here personally to crack on with getting fit, healthy, and good to play rugby again and if I can help others along the way, then awesome.

I guess a few people do have self-confidence issues that also need to be addressed and so if the flirting helps them feel more confident in themselves, fair enough.

Personally however, i've got much more important things to think about.
