I feel lost...

Where do people go when they are at a loss?? My weight has stagnated for the past 2 weeks...i religiously track food/drink/exercise but have lost nothing. but worse than that is that i FEEL like nothing...how do people motivate themselves? I'm not a "big" person, but would like to lose about 12kg (i think that is about 20lb??) to be at a weight i feel comfortable at, but worse than that..I just don't like myself!! How do i pull myself out of the depression?

  • If you open your diary so people can have a look, we can try to pin point where you might need some adjusting. :):flowerforyou:

Don't lose hope. Sometimes it's just slow. :)

So we have all been there.. but you have already taken the first step by putting the ownership on yourself to change yourself.

So I start by making a list (on a piece of paper or in excel or on a white board) of the things I want to change. It can be as simple as logging what I eat or adding those 8 glasses of water or walking more each day.

Keep reading success stories - those help me every day. Some days when I get mad at myself for not working out I read them and then do another 10-20 minutes of yoga or walking.

Keep exploring and educating yourself on how, what and why you want your fitness to change. It's a lifelong journey!

I have recently found that exercising really does put me into a better mood and mindset, especially if I'm feeling depressed. I was struggling last week, had some things going on, and I was really blue. I changed my schedule and made room for a full afternoon at home. I did a couple hours worth of extra exercising - nothing incredibly strenuous/insane, but just getting myself moving again and worked up a good sweat and heart rate. During and after, I noticed a big difference not only in my general mood, but also in specific "self talk" notions that were popping into my head. Before, lots of defeatist and negative thoughts about myself. During and after, lots of "possibility"-type thoughts, bringing new hope and encouragement to myself.

I would encourage you to try the same thing- put in some extra exercise - something that you know you can do and you generally succeed at. Make it some special "me" time. Maybe that will help lift the blues and give you a spark of hope for moving forward.

    Good luck!

Change things up a bit. Have a rest (food) day. Do a different kind of exercise. Do interval training. Fast for a day. Eat different food...your body will stop working as hard if everything becomes predictable.

Don't stress, be patient. Since I started I've been so diligent about my food and exercise, I love looking at my logs and challenging myself - thinking, "ok, what can I do better today". This last week I was really worried about traveling (for work) and being in a hotel... Out of my comfort zone for food and exercise. I did fine on the food but only exercised 1 day while I was away! I lost 3 lbs..this week. Just be diligent. Keep focused, do your research and challenge yourself to do better everyday. Your body will eventually respond
