I make my own yogurt all the time. I never flavor it til after it is "yogurt" because I use a lot of plain yogurt. I flavor it using unsweetened jam or jelly (lots of flavors to chose from and my family like it best. Have used Jello, protein powders, fresh fruit, pumpkin, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, clove, vanilla with sweetener of your choice (usually use Splenda Packets).
If you strain the yogurt ( the end product -Greek Yogurt - unfortunately is only about 1/2 the volume) you have a few more options as you could use low calorie syrups, applesauce, pureed fruits etc. without making the yogurt too "runny". I make 2 quarts of 2% milk at a time though I have heard of making it in the crock pot, must confess I have never tried it that way. :flowerforyou:0
