Is there a modification that can help this? It is only my left wrist, and I don't want to stop doing push-ups.

It depends what is causing the pain. But in my case, doing pushups on my knuckles help to alleviate some pain.

I bought pushup bars/handles and it has helped tremendously plus it gives you the benefit of deeper movement.
