Fitness Boot Camp - Can I do it?

I just purchased a Groupon for 12 classes for a fitness boot camp. After watching the video, I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to do this. I'm not a newbie exerciser, but I am 63 years old. I have been going to Jazzercise classes since 1999. I do at least 5 classes/week. In addition, I was doing some strength work (DVD) 2-3 times/week. However, I made it a goal to get in 200 Jazzercise classes this year and I travel quite a bit, so I have dropped the strength stuff in order to reach my goal. I can tell that, clearly, I have lost some strength since I stopped doing the DVD's I have, including kettlebell.

Now that my 200 class goal is almost a reality, I thought this would motivate me to get back into strength work. I'm thinking I may not be able to do a boot camp.

Anyone done a boot camp? Opinions on my situation?

Thanks!!

I've never done a boot camp, but it sounds like something you can do because of your not being new to exercise. Just remember to go at your own pace, lift what you know you can do without injuring yourself, etc, and don't let anyone pressure you to do otherwise. If something hurts (in a bad way) stop. Most of all Have FUN!

Sounds to me like you have a great fitness foundation to do this class. (How it meshes with your other goals, well, I can't really say.)

My previously sedentary wife is going into the second week of her first Boot Camp Challenge class. So far, so good (although she is definitely a little sore today).

And I'm jealous that you nabbed a Groupon for your class.

I haven't personally attended bootcamp but did enquire about one. my understanding is that you work at your own pace.

contact the organisers of the bootcamp and find out what the pace is going to be like. i;m sure that you'll do great and love it!

I started one 3 weeks ago. I go twice a week b/c I was really out of shape and I get too sore to go more often. lol

You can always scale the exercises down to fit your level. I can't do a single pull up...no big deal they show me alternative exercises that will help me build up to one. I'm slower than a lot of people in the classes but they all cheer me on.

You'll be fine but remember if you're sore later that night ice..lots of ice (and aleve lol)! Then if you feel up to it lighter exercise the next couple days. That's what I do.

Anyone know how many calories these types of classes burn?
