Hello my fellow MFP'S;
I got an exercise ball last night because I've heard good things about them. I mainly got it to use as my desk chair because my friend said it helped with his posture which I lack., LOL. anyways mine came with a workout disc and a poster with differnt workouts to do with the ball. My qeustion is, do any of you have a workout ball and have you done the "Ball Tranfer" workout? I did about 10 of them, just to see how it was and I felt like it was working my mid section. Will this help me get a flatter tummy and how many should I do a day?

    Flatter as in reduce fat? Probably not, most ab workouts are not aerobic enough to do serious fat burning. But it will help strengthen your core, and build up the muscles in your mid section. This is important for back health, and balance. Really, the only way to burn the fat is to do lots of aerobic work coupled with a sensible diet that has a decent (but not drastic) deficit.

    There are some serious HIIT workouts that have parts that really work your abs, those can be good for burning the fat and shaping the stomach, but straight core strengthening routines don't really burn many calories.

    We bought an Excersise Ball a few weeks ago. I love it. The transfer excersise is my favorite. I like to do it until "failure", along with other excersises. I beleive it has strengthened my core more than "crunches".

    But like Boss said, proper diet, and cardio are what flattens a tummy. While I have a flatter tummy and a little definition starting to show...it's not from playing with the excersise ball.

    ohkay thanks so much!! I was just curwious . I could really feel it working my thighs and belly, but yes I meant as in flatter. Hmm, should I still continue to do the exercise anyways? Will it help me in the long run? I run 2 miles everynight and workout during the days o should I include this in my routine anways?

    oh yes, keep doing them, once the fat is gone, you'll be much better off. Having a strong core makes everything else so much better. I.E. better balance, better agility, reduces your chance at having back injuries, looks better...etc.

    Great; so you think that it has strengthened your core a lot? I'm trying to just spice up my routine. I was looking for a flatter tummy, which I dont think this will give me but, hey if it will strengthen then I'll take that as well!!! I did 10 today and I could feel it in my tummy, thighs and arms. I'm wondering how many I should do a day?

    I have strengthened my core tremendously(sp?). I use to have problems bending over to shave my legs while taking a shower. I would have to stand up and stretch, it was awful. I couldn't do sqats or lunges. Now I can do both. I will look into SHBoss routine for my core. I respect his wisdom.

Ugh, I dont know I've been told so many things; my stomach is the only place that requires work.. in my eyes. Will this routine be helping me burn the calories or is it just giving my core strength. I'm like new to this LOL.

    nah, it won't really help reduce fat, but if you add it to your routine of cardio (or part of it if this is too much), then when the fat does come off, you'll have some nice abs there waiting to come out.
