I ran into this recipe by accident and had it tonight. It was AWESOME. The recipe yields 9-10 servings and is 118 calories a serving

Sugar – ¼ cup
Butter - Salted, 2 tbsp
Egg - Egg, Large , 1 large egg
Nature's Promise (Mrb) - Organic Unsweet Applesauce, ¼ cup
Generic - Mashed Banana, 1 cup
Gold Medal - All-Purpose Flour, 1 1/4 cup (30g)
Baking soda, 1.5 tsp

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix all ingredients except flour until well mixed together.
Mix in the flour until mixture is smooth
Pour into a bread dish and bake for 50 minutes.
Cool and serve...if you can wait that long

You can replace the egg with fat free yogurt as well. I made this recipe two weeks ago, makes a great, dense bread. It's a little grey looking but don't let it put you off, it tastes amazing!

I love Banana Bread. However am in Australia and don't really have all the applesauces. Any ideas on what to replace that with? Or any applesauce is ok?

I'm in Australia too so I just make my own apple sauce by chopping up apples, adding a dsah of water and just steaming them in a pot. I then puree them and voila - applesauce with no additives! I'm sure that any would be OK, just read the label...

I have some overripe banana's at home so I'm going to use this recipe tonight!

I know this would make the recipe less health conscious, but you can substitute oil for apple sauce in a 1-1 ratio.

Any no sugar added applesauce will work for most recipes. It can be used as a sub for oil/butter in most breads and cakes. If you want a little extra flavor you can get cinnimon applesauce. The key is to make sure what ever kind is no sugar added.
