The way I usually make it is not very diet-friendly. Any suggestions?

I don't have any recipes myself, but I know I enjoy eating it in asian slaw, so maybe look that up? It would be an oil/vinegar based slaw w/o mayo.

    Also: grilled cabbage is Yummy!

Otherwise, I like it added in all my salads and soups.
  • I make a oil and vinegar slaw. A little olive oil, salt, pepper and which ever vinegar you prefer over shredded cabbage (I usually buy a coleslaw mix). If it's shredded thin enough you can add it to lots of foods (like asian noodles) at the end and it will just steam enough from the residual heat to be crunchy yet cooked. I also use it in place of lettuce for tacos and sandwiches (I do this with spinach too).
    Happy eating :)

I make cole slaw using Blue plate light, spoon of sugar, and couple of cap fulls of vinegar. I put enough mayo to coat lightly.
  • I stir fry mine. I start with a bit of Pam in the wok, throw in the cabbage and fry it on med high until it starts releasing its juices (three to five minutes) then I dash some soy sauce on it, remove from heat, drizzle a bit of sesame oil on and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. I also sometimes add sriracha sauce if I'm feeling feisty.

Russian cabbage salad: shred some cabbage, put some coarse salt and squeeze with your hands. Leave for about 10 min, and it will become half limp and moist. Add some shredded carrots, some thin slices of apple, and/ or some cranberries. Squeeze some lemon juice, add a little bit of olive oil and mix it all. Can add whatever chopped green herbs you may have. I actually like it without oil even, it is so yummy and less calories!

It is good in stir fry.
My favorite is cabbage rolls. Just make an oblong shaped meatball with onion and rice (you can use ground beef, ground turkey, meat subsitute, whatever for the meatball) and roll the cabbage leaves around. Steam it until the meat is cooked through. So good with sauerkraut.

This works somehow am not sure why?

Rub the inside of a bowl with garlic clove
Shred cabage and place in bowl
Add a little mayo or natural yoghurt to some tuna
    Place in bowl over cabbage.
    Serve

Its a lovey dish to have with Jacket potato

This one can be a bit naughty:-
Shred cabbage, does not need to be to fine. Dice some bacon. Dice clove of garlic (more if you wish.

Heat some olive oil in a pan ( Gotta admit I prefer it with more olive oil)
Add garlic, fry a little before adding the cabbage. Cook through then add the bacon and fry till cooked.
    Serve

You can with this also then place in an ovenproof dish, sprinkle some cheese over the top, and bake for about 10 minutes

Again it is nice with jacket potato

You use your own quanties with each ingrediant so it can acually be quite a low cal meal. I do not do it very often now though as I really lap in the olive oil and cheese.

All quantities are to your own spec

    Hope you try and enjoy.
