My son called Friday asking if I want to go target shooting on memorial day. He had purchased several new guns and wanted to show Papa. Unfortunately I have committed myself to a fish fry. I try to keep my word. However, I was glad he called. I wanted to give him the TV that was stolen and later returned. The reason for that is he had been helping his older sister financially and I just felt he deserved a bit of reward. Originally I had planned on giving the TV to my oldest Daughter. I felt she could sell it if she needed the money. One little thing though was I wasn't even sure it worked anymore. I hadn't tested it. Still he seemed to be excited about it. So excited he wanted to come right then and get it. I said son, I wanted to see your trailer. You're denying your daddy his day out.

We work out the logistics and decided on Saturday evening. Saturday is an otherwise busy day. But still I didn't have to clean the house they did. :roflmao Sad to say I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning to watch "Badass". (Very good movie BTW). Then woke up Saturday morning feeling like a turd. No energy and no motivation. Tried going back to bed and that was a no go. Finally said the heck with it. Grabbed my gym clothes and headed to the gym. First though was quick stop at work. Thought I had left my glasses there. That answer was no. So on to the gym for an hour. After the Gym it was to the car wash. The jeep hadn't had a bath in months. Then it was way past time for cleaning out all the clutter that had accumulated in the Jeep. With that done it was on to the grocery store. A little shopping and to pick up a couple of small gifts for my son and his wife. That was a full $1.80 worth of gifts.

Oh and I needed gas. Then on my home to put the groceries away and picked some tomatoes out of my otherwise horrible looking garden. Then I thought would they like some jalapenos. So I grabbed some of those. Wonder if they would like a Butternut squash. Grabbed one of those. Not sure if it's ripe or even what to do with it. But what the heck it came out of my garden. I sat down for a moment and realized my God am I tired. Watched a few minutes of TV and then started moving things out to the Jeep.

Grabbed the Tomatoes, squash, peppers and loaded them. Then grabbed the TV and carried it out. Started wondering if the batteries were dead in the remote. Thinking I had replacement batteries I did a search and found them. Threw those in the bag along with a cable and the remote plus the Donuts, that was the $1.80. They are made by my company. Had to stay true. Also Mom sent some tennis shoes to my son. Loaded those as well. My son asked what the Butternut squash was. His wife said it was a very healthy food except for what she was going to do to it. Apparently she's going to make some kind of pie.

Headed out to the local town were my son lives. Realized I forgot the paper with his address. Oh well my instincts will carry me and they did. I remembered it was lot 97 and that was all I needed.

When I arrived I couldn't help but think of all those trailer park jokes and songs. Finally saw his red F150 and then uneasily knocked on the door. He had been living there for 3.5 years and this was my first visit. One reason for that was his Mom had lived there until her last suicide attempt. After that he no longer wanted to come home and find her dead. They tore up a door and busted a window in order to get her out the last time. It was all too much for him. So the made the tough decision and sent her to assisted living where she can be watched her 24/7 or so I thought.

His wife invites me in and the place looks spotless. It was just very well decorated and fairly roomy. My son goes out to the Jeep and gets the TV while I grab all the other goodies. Much to my surprise they had made dinner for me. It was Lasagna and man o' man was it good. You can add to that garlic toast and a nice salad. I can also say I didn't do well on my diet that day.

Now he plugs in the TV and it works. The picture is even better than I remember it. Unfortunately at the very very top the thieves had scratched the screen but no too bad and not in the center of the picture. So all is good. They are impressed. They were still using a Tube TV. I told them I wanted them to have it since they have been helping Stacey, my oldest daughter. Seems she was just over the day before to get money to pay her rent. She tries so hard but just can't quite pull it off. I've been there and know what that is like.

Later my son brings out his new guns. Nice set I don't mind saying. One thing I had warned him about is taking the pistol out with no carrying permit. He got lucky. He had taken it to a range for target practice and some how the rangers didn't show up. He also shows me some pictures of his target arrows

I noticed he had trigger guards on all the guns. I just commented lightly on it to just to acknowledge there existence. He however went into more detail. It seems his Mom has driving privileges and keys to the house. What he feared was her coming over and using one of the firearms to kill herself. How sad!

We moved the conversation back to the trailer. My son boasted he had the best single wide in the lot. I said Son, not to make you jealous but there's a double wide a couple of lots down. He wasn't phased. Then I get the tour of the place. They had done an enormous amount of work to the trailer including new lighting, new walls, and a new bathroom. Outside he had built a vegetable garden and a flower garden. Also there was a raised strawberry patch. The park is really old with a good set of old growth trees and even a couple of fruit trees. One being an Apricot tree with ripening Apricots. It was pretty impressive. I was a bit jealous of that.

It was indeed a full day. I sure felt it on the drive home. Then I think about the time they failed to show up for dinner. All is forgiven.

I'm glad you had a nice time with family. It's been a weekend full of family drama for us..... and I'm exhausted. I mowed the entire lawn last nite and this morning... something I wasn't supposed to be doing, but I was trying to take some pressure off my daughter. I think its time for a nap now. lol
