For me, if I only have 20 minutes I'll just lace up and head out for a run. Sometimes, I just go out and run a mile (10 minutes) if that is all I can squeeze in. But normally, I try for 30 - 60 minutes of exercise daily and strength train twice a week.

would you use it for cardio or strength training? For the record the main objective is weight loss . . .

Advice / opinions all welcome =)

The more lean mass you have, the more calories you burn. So the objective should ALWAYS be to build lean mass.

If I only had 20 minutes I would either do cross-fit style training or aquatics. Both are excellent ways to build lean mass while getting an AWESOME cardiovascular workout.

Cardio. I'll use any excuse to stay away from strength training.

Lol. and I will use any excuse to stay away from cardio : )

Strength training builds muscle/lean mass which creates a greater need for calories. Cardio will burn it off as you are working out, but doesn't continue the burn like strength training. Strength training challenges your muscles. Recomps your body. Increases bone density. Makes you smaller - not just "skinnier".

So .. I'd combine. Strength training. HIIT. Kettlebells was a great suggestion. I'd def not do cardio only. THAT is my 2 cents : )
