DAY ONE

I have decided to start a thread on here to help keep myself accountable....since its my BIGGEST problem!

Please feel free to also share and join! I have found that I get so much added support and inspiration from you all

Today I am getting back to my spinning class. I haven't spun in MONTHS and I know I'm gonna be sore as I don't know what but it will be a GREAT sore! When I started my journey to a healthier life I was spinning 1-2 times a week and I lost like 20 pounds in the first month! I have found that spinning is a great way to burn tons of calories and I also have fun while doing it. One of my friends just joined my gym and she is meeting me there for class tonite, I'm so excited to finally have a work out buddy! She has a lot of weight to lose and I don't want her to get discouraged since she is really out of shape, any advice you guys can give to help me help her stay coming back? I'd appreciate it....

Yesterday was the first time in a LONG time that I stayed within my calories for everything I ate and I'm shooting to do the same again today! Now I'm off to eat my oatmeal ~ have a blessed day everyone!

as someone who has lost quite a bit and still needs to lose more, of all the things i've tried spin has been the one thing I haven't been brave enough to. i fear i wont be able to keep up let alone make it through the whole class.

if this will be her first thing that she is trying upon joining the gym she is much braver than i LOL and I would make sure she knows it's ok to maintain her own pace and only do what she feels she can do to make it to the end and not over do it.

Even maybe try to talk to the instructor a few min before class starts if possible so that she can feel good and hear it from them as well... that way she wont be scared into not coming back (to that class anyhow)

    :o) have fun!

The instructor for class tonite is awesome and encourages newbees to take it slow, opposed to the psycho-path instructor who spun like a maniac up until the second she gave birth to her child. Something about a 9 month pregnant woman who can outspin me gave me motivation - but also made me wonder!

I've advised her to do it how I did it when I started (since I pretty much began spinning when I was totally out of shape also). For me, as long as I kept me legs moving the whole hour I felt good about what I was doing. I didn't start doing all of the different postions and adding tension until later. Before I stopped going I was able to keep up with the class on EVERYTHING and it made me feel so good to look back at where I started from (practically doing all within my power to not fall off the bike!) LOL!

As for you, I encourage you to try it also (granted you have the luxury of being able to attend a class). Just take it slow at first and it will amaze you at how your body adapts and allows you to keep up, and go beyond, the others in the class! At my peak I was burning between 800-900 calories in an hour - that right there made it ALL worth it!

OMG I'm scared to do Zumba - how crazy is that? :blushing:

When I found out my gym offered a Zumba class I was interested but told myself to loose some flab before I go jumping/dancing/moving around to music in public. I have yet to brave the class. Maybe once spinning needs switched up I'll attempt Zumba! hahaha....isn't it funny that we both do (and love) what the other hides from?

Too bad we don't live close and physically make each other attend the class we fear!
