Can't believe I am the motivator!

So after a year and a half of exercising and diet altering and losing almost 60 pounds (yay me!) my boyfriend finally said "I guess I should get off my butt and do something we can do together".
He is not terribly overweight at 6'4" 210 lbs, but just generally unhealthy with his eating habits, smoking habit and lack of physical activity.
One month ago he decided he was going to try and bike to work (a 5 1/2 mile trip one way). So, for two weeks, he rode to work and I picked him and his bike up after work. Then he decided he would try to make the trip home too (it is UPHILL on the way home  ) It wasn't easy but he did it!
Now, as he typically does, he is ALL about biking. He went out and bought all the clothing they sell pertaining to biking, bought every EXPENSIVE accessory they sell for bikes (cuz that cheap crap they sell at Wal-Mart just isn't good enough for him!) and has even looked at a $1000 road bike upgrade! I just shake my head....I created a monster!
He stepped on the scale yesterday and proudly announced "Hey, I lost ten pounds this past month! Thanks for encouraging me to get back on the bike!"
Happy I could be his motivator, frustrated that without altering his eating habits the weight dropped right off (it never works for women like that!) and equally frustrated that what started out as "something we could do together" has now evolved into "I will do my biking when you are at work so you don't slow me down" :ohwell:
I still have my jogging to keep me going even if I have to do that alone.

Just remember that he is on his own journey to health, just as you are.
Please don't be discouraged that he is becoming so involved, I think it's healthy for couples to have some activities to call their own.0
