My wife got this recipe from a co-worker. It fits really well into our meal plans, but I will let you decide if it's low calorie/high protein enough for you. If you let it chill properly, it becomes thick and creamy with an intense ranch flavor.

1 cup 2% cottage cheese (substitute fat free if you want, I don't)
6 oz. plain Greek Yogurt (Oikos is our brand)
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch dip mix powder (0 calories!!!)

Blend the cottage cheese until it is the consistency of yogurt. Mix the blended cottage cheese with the other 2 ingredients and chill for at least 4 hours. Makes several 1 or 2 ounce servings. Can be refrigerated for several days if sealed properly.

My wife and I calculated a 2 ounce serving, which is two dollops about the size of golf balls, and it came up to 40 calories. Here are the stats for the whole recipe...

I've been mixing dry ranch with just plain Greek yogurt, never thought to add cottage cheese...will have to give it a try!

Once the ranch mix has a chance to soak in, it's really strong in ranch flavor. Not sure how to compare it to regular dip, since there are so many kinds out there. All I know is that it tastes good, it's easy on the calorie count and high in protein. The second day it thickens up quite a bit, making it stick to carrots and celery really nicely too.

Yes! I'm trying to make myself like raw carrots and such, just can't eat them plain. This will be perfect.
  • I made myself a snack. I just had 18 baby carrots and two ounces of dip for a total of 75 calories. I would bet money that I could serve this on a party platter and nobody would even know it wasn't a sour cream based dip.
