Food scale

Do you have/use a food scale? If yes, what scale do you have? Would you recommend to other MFP's?

I have a junky one but I still use it. I've been told that there is a decent one at Walmart for around $20. I'm putting that on my Christmas list.

Any food scale will work just fine. Buy one, use it everyday, for every meal.
  • My wife and I use this one... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001N07KUE/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i01

We really like it. It took some getting used to at first, trying to remember to weigh the bowl empty, zero out the scale, then add your food so the weight you see is just the weight of the food and not the bowl too. We soon realized we were way underestimating how much meat we were eating. 4 to 5 ounces is not a lot of chicken breast or steak.

I LOVE my food scale! It's an OXO brand from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I had a gift card and a coupon so it wasn't too, too expensive. It's silver, slim and sleek. I smile every time I use it. Functions include lighted panel, zeroing out, and a pull out panel to help read when using oversized plates or bowls. I got it as a reward for sticking with this for a month or two. Absolutely necessary? No, but definitely helps accurately record portions, which is important for me cause I'm pretty bad at judging protein, cheese, and pasta amounts. I have used cheap Wal-Mart or Weight Watcher ones in the past, and they gave me the basic needed information, but this baby makes me feel like I'm Alton Brown in kitchen!

I have the biggest loser digital scale and it is great. It is $20 at bed, bath and beyond but grab yourself a 20% off coupon and it's only $16. I also have a non-digital scale for work, but it is so worth the $16 for digital. I was shocked at how I was overestimating portions!
