Sodium is in everything!!!!!!!!!!

I have high blood pressure which is why I am getting serious about losing some weight and starting to exercise.
But, I had no idea how many foods have lots of sodium....I mean, even cereal has sodium!
Anyway, if anyone has any recipes they can share or suggestions for good foods to buy that have little or no sodium, I would really appreciate.
It seems that everyone worries about fat content, and carbs and calories....but most people forget about salt.
Good luck to everyone!

I can't give you specifics but probably the best thing you can do is prepare a lot of things yourself and watch the sodium. Having a lot of spices and herbs around can give things a lot of flavor without adding sodium. There seem to be a lot of "less sodium" products out there. Just read labels I guess.
I try and keep my sodium intake to about 2400 mg a day if possible.
I bet if you were to google "low sodium recipes" or something like that, you would get a lot of ideas.0 -
Yeah it is!! I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure as well, and that first month of trying to not eat much of it was sooooo hard. But, salt is an aquired taste, and can be beat.
As for the food....my suggestion is to eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruit. There will be sodium in everything, it's the total number that matters. Also, anything that is pre-made, will have more sodium. Good luck! I know it's hard...I went in the grocery store and almost cried because there was like, NOTHING I could eat,...well, that I used to eat. You'll get through it though....I'm sure you will find some creative ways to make yummy, low-sodium food!0
